Our last update brought you integration with C1, our new music recognition app, got rid of in-app purchases and incorporated all your ‘Players’ into one convenient pop out window. Now with this latest update we bring you support for the Apple Watch!
Any of you lucky enough to actually have an Apple Watch will now be able to control your Big Screen experience directly from your wrist. At the time of writing there are over 3,500 apps available for the Apple Watch and C5 is the only one that gives you DLNA/Chromecast support!
Once C5 is launched on your iPhone you can take full control of your stereo system, TV or home cinema directly from your watch. You can also use all the normal controls such as volume, fast forward, pause, skip and rewind.
The Apple Watch is still in its infancy and doesn’t offer an awful lot of software, so things can’t get too clever, without reverting back to your iPhone. So for the moment we offer you Music and DLNA/Chromecast support – our other medias – Radio, Video, Photos, Streaming with Rdio and Deezer – will be coming very soon!
Don’t have Creation 5? Download it from the App Store!
Our latest C5 update coincides with the launch of a brand-new app! C5 has had a ‘baby’ and it’s called C1 – a dedicated music discovery app that is serious competition for the likes of Shazam and Soundhound. To find out more about this ‘new baby’, that works alone, or connects with C5, visit the C1 page.
Our last update saw the addition of Deezer to our Streaming Music Services, Chromecast support and the tuning of our DLNA function to an all-time high. This update brings some time saving changes to the interface, the removal of in-app purchases and the integration with our new ‘baby’ app C1.
What’s New in update 4.4.2
Integration with C1 We’ve created a new, lightning fast music discovery app called C1. It’s free and works in combination with C5. Both apps have buttons that take you to the other app. C5 now has a ‘History’ panel which stores all the music searches you make in C1. Recognise and discover new music with C1, then enjoy the full audio visual experience in C5. Very smooth!
In-app purchases In-app purchases are gone forever! Both versions – the Plus and the Free – now enjoy the same functionality – you’ll just have to put up with advertising if you’re using the Free version (and had not previously purchased any in-apps). We’re keeping the ads to a minimum, but if you get fed up with them you can always update to the Plus version.
Interface If you’re using an iPad you’ll notice a time saving and convenient change – all your ‘Players’ are now in a cool pop out window on the right hand side, making it super easy to change players quickly.
General We’ve improved the general responsiveness of the app, making things much zippier than before, just like tuning a sports car. We’ve also splatted a few irritating bugs.
Yesterday (March 9), Apple gave the world a second taste of their most personal device yet, the Apple Watch. Much has changed since their September event, so here’s a final look before the Apple Watch goes on sale on April 24, 2015.
When can I buy the Apple Watch?
Apple confirmed the official launch date will be April 24 for Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
You can pre-order your Apple Watch starting April 10.
Sport Edition, Apple Watch and Edition – what’s the difference?
The Apple Watch has many different pricing options – big or small? Aluminum, stainless steel or gold? Plastic, leather or metal bands? Bare with us as we break it down:
Apple Watch Sport Edition
The Apple Watch Sport Edition is their lowest-tier smart watch. It’s made of a special anodized aluminum that is said to be 60% stronger than a standard alloy and has a shatter-resistant Gorilla Glass screen.
You can get the Sport Edition in silver or space gray, in both 38mm and 42mm screen sizes. Only the Sport Strap is compatible with the Sport Edition, which comes in a wide range of colors.
The Apple Watch Sport Edition goes on sale for $350 for the 38mm, and $400 for the 42mm screen size. The Sport Strap is included in the price, but is available for $50 separately.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is Apple’s mid-tier option, which is made of Apple’s own cold-forged stainless steel, said to be 80% harder than normal stainless steel, and scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal.
The Apple Watch is available in polished silver and glossy Space Black, again in 38mm and 42mm screen sizes. Every strap will fit the Apple Watch, which gives you plenty of options. The Apple Watch goes on sale for $550-$1050 for the 38mm, and $600-$1100 for the 42mm, depending on which strap you choose.
If you’re in the mood for a different strap, you can purchase them individually: Sport band: $50 Leather loop, Classic buckle or Milanese loop: $150 Modern buckle: $250 Link Bracelet: $450
Apple Watch Edition
Yes, this is the 18-karat gold one. The 18-karat gold was developed specifically by Apple and is said to be twice as hard as standard gold. The Edition comes with the same Sapphire Crystal scratch-resistant screen, and will be available in limited quantities in select countries.
The Apple Watch Edition is available in 18-karat rose gold or 18-karat yellow gold, in both 38mm and 42mm. The Apple Watch Edition starts at $10,000, and based on Apple’s online store, stretches up to $17,000.
How do I navigate the Apple Watch?
The Apple Watch has several inputs.
Digital Crown
The Digital Crown is exactly what it’s name implies, instead of setting the time like a crown does on a watch, it controls the Apple Watch’s interface. It reminds us of the classic iPod’s click wheel. Press the crown to wake the watch, displaying the time. Pressing the crown once more brings you to the app screen. Zoom in and out by turning the crown, and tap on an app to launch it.
The Digital Crown has app-specific functions, like zooming in Apple’s Maps app, as can the Photos app.
Force Touch
Force Touch is Apple’s new pressure-sensitive touchscreen. Electrodes around the display allow it to distinguish a hard press from a tap. This allows a wide range of extra functions without cluttering the interface.
Siri
Apple’s Siri can also be used on the Apple Watch. The most obvious use is replying to text messages – you can use a default reply, tap on an impossibly small keyboard or simply dictate a message for Siri, without ever pulling out your iPhone. You can also use it to ask for information about local cinemas, traffic, and more.
Contacts button
There’s an extra button under the Digital Crown. This pulls up your contact list, and has different functions based on the app you’re using.
What does the Apple Watch do?
Several first- and third-party apps will ship with the Apple Watch. The watch is designed to work as an extension to your iPhone, not replace it. The Music app will let you play music from your watch’s local library or your iPhone’s using the watch’s speaker. Most of the default iPhone applications will be available on the Watch as well.
Third-party apps include Facebook, the Nike+ Running app tracking your activity, Dark Sky for weather forecasting. Ebay will let you purchase things from your wrist.
The Apple Watch will also be NFC-enabled, allowing you to pay with Apple Pay. Apple has also claimed that the watch will eventually replace your car keys and hotel room keys.
How does it connect to my iPhone?
Apple’s latest iOS update (8.2) released today includes a new Apple Watch companion app. You can access the watch-specific App Store, set reminders, create automatic responses to messages, and much more.
It’s been confirmed that the Apple Watch requires an iPhone to work. Without the companion app, no changes can be made to the watch.
How does the watch work as a fitness tracker?
Apple’s Fitness app uses the built-in heart rate monitor, your iPhone’s GPS and an accelerometer to monitor your activity throughout the day. During a heavy workout, the watch can be used to show specific information on the intensity of your workout.
The core of the Fitness app are the “Rings”: the move ring, the exercise ring and the stand ring. These are all designed to make you sit less and move more.
The move ring determines how active you actually are during the day. The exercise ring tracks your exercise, and is completed when you spend 30 minutes exercising. Lastly, the stand ring monitors how long you’ve been sitting, and regularly reminds you to stand up and stretch.
The dedicated fitness app lets you set how fast you want to run, how far or for how long. You can set daily calorie goals, and earn awards that are shown on your iPhone’s fitness tracker.
The Apple Watch was originally meant to ship with a wide array of health sensors. Due to many obstacles during development, these were ultimately dropped.
How long does the battery last?
The Apple Watch’s battery is supposedly meant to last 18 hours, or up to 72 hours on “Power Reserve” mode. In Power Reserve mode, the watch will no longer show notifications, and lose functionality. This mode will turn on by default when the battery reaches 10% charge.
The Apple Watch has a claimed life of up to 3 hours of talk time, 6.5 hours for Bluetooth audio playback, 7 hours of workout with the heart rate sensor on and 48 hours of timekeeping.
The charging times are listed as 1.5 hours from 0%-80%, and 2.5 hours from 0%-100%. The tests are based off 45 minutes of app usage and a 30-minute workout with music playing over Bluetooth, including 90 time checks and 90 notification views over the course of 18 hours.

Nowadays, there’s a myriad of options for connecting your TV to the web – Apple TV, Amazon’s Fire TV, Slingshot, or owning a smart TV, to name but a few. Of all these smart devices, the Chromecast is the dumbest – it leaves the smarts to your smartphone. In the next update to Creation 5 – only weeks away – we’ll be adding Chromecast support and we’re quite excited about it! Creation 5 will be the only app on the market to offer full services for DLNA, Airplay and Chromecast.
In this article we take a look at what Chromecast does and how to set it up.
Google’s Chromecast dongle can display high-definition 1080p content using your television or monitor’s HDMI port. It connects to your home network using a Wi-Fi connection, requiring minimal setup. Unlike other devices, it doesn’t have a physical remote control or local storage. The Chromecast’s setup and functionality is foolproof, and if you’re used to streaming content across several different devices, the Chromecast is a blessing.
Design
We’re suckers for great design, and the Chromecast’s design is one of its most attractive features. With the Chromecast’s arrival, it turned the smart “stick” form factor into an industry standard. Thanks to its small size, the Chromecast will usually be hidden by the television or monitor. If it does stick out, it’ll look like a natural extension of the TV. A strange decision was made on it’s power source – a miniUSB cable plugs into the end of the Chromecast, requiring a USB or electrical socket (adapter provided) for power.
Price
The Chromecast only costs 35€ ($35 or £30). That makes it the cheapest major streaming device. It’s cheaper than the other “sticks” (Roku Streaming Stick – €50 and Amazon Fire TV Stick – 39€). It’s also cheaper than the top-boxes provided by Apple, Amazon, Roku and Slingshot.
Set-up
The Chromecast has a foolproof setup. If you use any content or streaming services (Rdio, Netflix, YouTube, etc.), other devices will ask you to log-in to each one separately. With Chromecast, everything is ready to go once you add it to your Wi-Fi network. You’ll never touch the set-up again unless you change location or networks. Here’s how:
· Plug the Chromecast dongle into your HDTV’s HDMI input. · Change the Input or Source to HDMI, until the “set me up” screen appears. · Follow the on-screen instructions by visiting google.com/chromecast/setup on your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or computer, then install the Chromecast app. · Launch the app, pair your device to the Chromecast and enter your Wi-Fi credentials. That’s it!
No Remote
Once the Chromecast is added to your Wi-Fi network, every device on the network is effectively a remote – you’ll notice how a physical remote isn’t provided with the Chromecast. Your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch will automatically recognize the Chromecast, and Creation 5 will list it as a player. You can then use it to play content, pause, skip, or adjust the volume. This also means that you’re logged in to any streaming, web or app services.
Interface
The Chromecast has no navigable software of its own – everything is done using your iPhone, iPad or iPod. No Channels to download, no login processes, no awkward menus. Simply launch an app that supports Google Cast, such as Creation 5, and choose the Chromecast as a player.
Compatibility
The Chromecast can play any audio or video files without issue in high-resolution – with the exception of native Windows files (WMA and WMV). Compatibility issues that the Apple TV and AirPlay is plagued with, such as the inability to play back DRM-protected files. You’ll also be able to view photos, or stream Net Radio stations using Creation 5. The Chromecast will accept any file format you throw at it. Unlike AirPlay, you can still use your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to do other things while watching a video or listening to music on your Chromecast.

Yesterday during a keynote presentation in Cupertino, California, Apple unveiled the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch. It was quite a presentation. It’s the biggest advance in the history of iPhone and the most desirable wearable we’ve ever, ever seen.
Size and Display
The screen on the iPhone 6 is 4.7 inches in size, with 1334 x 750 resolution, which is basically equivalent to a 720p Android phone. The iPhone 6 Plus, which uses an even bigger Full HD, 1080p with 5.5-inch screen. The iPhone 6 isn’t just bigger than the 5s it’s way better. It has a smooth metal surface that seamlessly meets with the gorgeous Retina HD display. Both models are IPS and feature improved colour reproduction.
The iPhone 6 although a bigger handset is not huge at all, sizing in at just 6.9mm thick. The iPhone 6 Plus is slightly bigger, measuring 7.1mm thick.
Processor
The chip inside is a brand new A8 processor which Apple says is up to 50x faster than the original iPhone. The motion coprocessor is also updated with a new M8 unit to sit alongside the A8 which measures your steps, movement and even elevation. Nike will update its running app to track how high and low you are running.
Battery Life
Battery life is hugely improved – see the stats below. The iPhone 6 Plus scores here with a significantly longer battery life than its smaller sibling – perhaps because it can hold a bigger battery.
Camera
8-megapixel sensor, a true tone flash and an even faster aperture.
Apple has introduced something called ‘Focus Pixels’ that allow the handset to use ‘phase detection auto focus’ which basically means a two-times increase in speed over the older-generation iPhone.
Face detection is improved for focusing, it uses digital image stabilization, and optical image stabilization which will make it even better at capturing photos in low light.
Slow motion is also improved, doubling from 120 fps to a full 240 fps. Time lapse video is also built into iOS 8 (hooray!), and continuous autofocus is now possible using the new iSight sensor, while shooting video.
Connectivity
iPhone 6 has faster LTE download speeds and supports more LTE bands than any other smartphone so you can roam in more places. When you’re connected to Wi-fi you’ll get up to 3x faster speeds.
We are delighted to hear that Wi-Fi calling has been built in and very conveniently the phone will seamlessly switch between 4G and Wi-Fi wherever possible, so that you get the best call quality. You won’t know it’s happening either.
Apple Pay
This will change how we pay for things forever. Contactless payment technology is here. No more searching for your wallet, no more stressing over finding the right card. No more swiping and waiting – it all happens with a single touch. It’s quick (seconds), easy (all the info is in your phone) and really secure. To pay, all you do is hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. That’s it…! You don’t even have to look at the screen to know your payment has been made – a subtle vibration and beep lets you know. And if you ever lose your phone you just use Find My iPhone to quickly put your device in Lost Mode so that nothing is accessible, or you can choose to wipe the device clean.
iOS 8
The world’s most advanced operating system has made a huge leap as well. It’s really, really smart. You can now do things you could only imagine before, like using Siri to control the devices in your home or using your health and fitness app to contact your doctor. Here’s a brief list of what’s new: • Add voice or video to any message • See a clear picture of your health from a dashboard that’s updated daily • The keyboard has just got really smart, typing is way easier, with contextually appropriate suggestions based on who you are typing to and in what app. • All your favourite people can access your favourite things – family sharing on iTunes for up to 6 family members • Introducing iCloud Drive for any kind of file on all of your devices • Smarter notifications – act on notifications without leaving the app you are in • Search also got smarter – it now looks beyond your device and considers context and location to give you the most accurate results
Both models are available in gold, silver and space grey starting from $199.
There is so much to say about this new wearable. To start with, it’s the hottest thing we’ve ever laid eyes on. Before the presentation yesterday in California, not one of the Creation Team were particularly interested in the Apple Watch. After the presentation we were already deciding which one we were going to have. Impressed is an understatement. The only bad thing about it is we have to wait till early 2015 before we can get our hands on one.
First off – it’s gorgeous. Rolex eat your heart out. This is a highly desirable watch. It might be “just a gadget” but its so intimate and personal that it has entered it’s own category. It represents a new chapter in the relationship people have with technology. As Apple say “It’s the most personal product we’ve ever made, because it’s the first one designed to be worn”.
Made for Everyone
A device you wear, by definition has to be vastly different than one you carry around. The Apple Watch is available in three distinctive collections:
Apple Watch – Stainless steel or space black stainless steel cases. Sapphire crystal. A range of stylish bands.
Apple Watch Sport – Anodized aluminum cases in silver or space gray. Strengthened Ion-X glass. Colorful, durable bands.
Apple Watch Edition – 18-karat gold cases in yellow or rose. Sapphire crystal. Exquisitely crafted bands and closures.
Powerful technology
The Apple Watch is basically a remarkable feat of engineering. The crown (or dial/wheel as some people call it) is a standard feature on watches. The Apple Watch has a Digital Crown, which is a multifunctional input device that lets you zoom, scroll, and select without covering the screen with your fingers. It’s as integral to Apple Watch as the the mouse is to Mac. The Home screen lets you quickly find your favorite apps and the force-sensitive Retina display puts more functionality at your fingertip.
Precisely perfect
Keeping accurate time is pretty important for a timepiece. Apple Watch uses multiple technologies to keep time within 50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard. It automatically adjusts to the local time when you travel and presents time in a more meaningful, personal context by sending you notifications and alerts relevant to your life and schedule.
We were blown away by notifications – you feel pressue, like a gentle tap, on your wrist (incoming notification) so you raise your wrist to see what it is – as you raise your wrist the screen lights up to show you the notification, which you can act on or dismiss/delay.
Health and Fitness Companion
Apple Watch delivers a complete picture of your all-day physical activity. The three rings of the Activity app show your progress at a glance, helping you to sit less, move more, and get some exercise. You know how many calories you’ve burned and how active you’ve been – at a glance. There’s also a separate Workout app for dedicated fitness sessions. Over time, Apple Watch will suggest personalized daily fitness goals and encourage you to achieve them.
Unless you actually see it working you won’t believe how amazing it is. Check out the video!
Here at Creation we have always preferred class to the whims of fashion. We would rather have our outfits bespoke than wear the latest designer label. We like our whisky aged in casks, our shoes hand made, the art in our homes commissioned and our cigars imported from Cuba. It’s all about making a statement of style.
The same principle applies when it comes to enjoying our free time. If you are movie buffs like we are, then you will be spending a considerable amount of your spare time in your Home Cinema, so why not let your imagination run riot a little?
The team at Creation has come up with the Rainbow Cinema, which we reckon would suit flamboyant French fashionista Jean Paul Gaultier down to the ground. And it could be yours for just 2.3 million dollars.
With Creation the possibilities to make your own style statement in your home cinema are endless. With the obvious 4k 3D projector and state-of-the-art 16 channel surround sound DTS-HD Master you have the world’s best sound experience. Add the Creation On Screen Menu for intuitive control of the Big Screen and you can just relax and enjoy the show! What more can you ask for?
