The First Lady of Funk showed off her killer dance moves last week when she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon for the Evolution of Mom Dancing. As part of the 5th anniversary of Let’s Move! and the #GimmeFive challenge, Michelle Obama challenged Jimmy Fallon to share five new mom dances. Fallon donned his best pink cardigan, white sneakers and ‘mom’ wig to join Mrs Obama for a full 2 plus minutes of cardio.
The dance moves are hilarious – like the “Shush and Tush,” the “Getting a Bag From Your Collection of Plastic Bags Under the Sink,” and the “Oh, My God! I Didn’t Know You Were Coming Here!” It was only when Fallon did the ‘Barak Obama’, making fun of her husband’s dance moves, that Mrs Obama drew the line.

Walk Off The Earth are known for their creative approach – not only in their covers and original songs but also with their visuals. This new video for their latest single Rule The World is no exception. It’s an explosion of colour and energy! Directed by John Poliquin it incorporates intricate choreography, airborne musical instruments and cute chalk animations.
Rule The World is quite an inspirational anthem, it’s the first cut off the groups upcoming sophomore album, following their debut album R.E.V.O in 2013. “We want to give all the inspiration we received back to the rest of the world with this album,” singer Sarah Blackwood said in a statement.
This group are from Canada and are made up of multi-instrumentalists Gianni Luminati, Marshall, and Sarah Blackwood on vocals, Taylor on keyboards, and drummer Joel Cassady. They are starting a Spring tour on May 6 beginning in Toronto, tickets went on sale yesterday and are available from the bands website.

¿En qué proyectos anda metida actualmente RebekaBrown? ¿Qué tienes planeado para encandilar de nuevo a tu legión de seguidores? Hay momentos en la carrera de un artista en los que hay que contemplar y estudiar bien todas las opciones. Momentos en los que hay cambios profundos de contenido y forma. Y normalmente toma su tiempo.
Tengo un proyecto bastante grande y diferente entre manos. Preparándolo y armándolo. Varias cosas que distan de lo que vengo haciendo estos últimos años. Digamos que las cosas van a cambiar. Por otro lado uno de los grandes proyectos. Un reto muy grande para mí que me hace muchísima ilusión. Es algo que hacía tiempo que tenía en mente y parece que finalmente se ha materializado. Empezar a apoyar y ayudar a artistas emergentes en sus carreras.
Conocí a un gran artista este verano con un talento y una calidad vocal únicos. De aquellos artistas que aparecen de vez en cuando. Muy especial. Productor, cantante y compositor. Con la ayuda de Jaume Pagès en el management estamos dándole forma al lanzamiento de su carrera. Una proyección brutal inmediata. Muy ilusionada y feliz de poder apoyar y ayudar en este camino. De poder poner en práctica cosas que aprendí durante todos estos años y ver materializarse sueños.
Durante el pasado verano no has parado de moverte tanto por España como por el resto de Europa, ¿qué sensaciones y qué feedback has recibido durante estos últimos meses en lo personal y en lo profesional? Personalmente llevo muchísimos años de gira, de hecho llevo toda la vida de gira. Aquí no paramos. Los gigs son todo el año, es cierto que en verano hay una afluencia de bolos mucho mayor pero fiestas y festivales ocurren todo el tiempo.
Llevo muchos años. He visto evolucionar, cambiar y pasar los diferentes estilos musicales de más tendencia en cada época. He tenido la suerte de vivir la música electrónica en todas sus vertientes. Digamos cuando no era tan popular. Ahora está todo mucho más masificado.
La diferencia que yo he notado en muchos lugares, y estoy sintiendo en mis actuaciones y en las pistas de baile, es que antes podías permitirte el lujo de improvisar y de innovar en directo. Podías hacer todo un set de improvisación y de cosas desconocidas y crear una atmósfera y llevarte al público contigo en ese viaje. Ahora la gente quiere escuchar lo que oye en la radio. Lo que conoce. Supongo que esto siempre ocurre en el ámbito más popular que en el underground.
¿Te has movido mucho por Ibiza durante el pasado verano? ¿Qué tiene de especial esta isla que atrapa a todo aquel que la visita? Vivo aquí desde hace 12 años y no hay ningún sitio en el mundo en el que quiera estar. Es muy cómodo para mí trabajar y poder dormir en casa, tener a mis amigos y familia cerca es muy importante. Ibiza es mágica es difícil explicar que tiene que a todo el mundo atrapa. Yo creo que aparte de ser un lugar mágico y muy bello ya sea por sus calas y sus rincones… Aquí se respira un aire diferente. Por un lado contamos con la oferta de clubbing y Entertaiment más interesante del planeta, con lugares muy especiales, todo es posible en Ibiza. Hay una mezcla de culturas de ambientes y de razas muy interesante.
Uno de los últimos videos en los que hemos podido verte es Lighters junto a DJ Nano. Se trata de un tándem de lujo: Uno de los DJ y productores de máxima calidad del país y la mejor vocalista dentro del género. ¿Cómo surge esta sinergia con Nano? ¿Cómo recuerdas el proceso creativo y la forma de trabajar el tema junto a Nano? Nano es un buen amigo desde mucho tiempo, compañero de profesión y una persona a la que admiro enormemente por su personalidad, por su perseverancia, por lo currante que es y por su energía…
Llevábamos mucho tiempo queriendo trabajar juntos queriendo colaborar en un tema inédito y bueno le pasé unas cuantas ideas, le gustó Lighters y se decidió a desarrollarlo. Para mí una apuesta diferente un tema EDM. No es lo que mi público está acostumbrado escuchar de mí pero me apetecía mucho probarlo
¿Cuál es tu valoración de la repercusión que ha tenido Lighters en el mercado y en las pistas de baile? Yo creo que este tema ya que no es lo que mi público normalmente consume creo que ha llegado con la ayuda de Nano y máxima FM a un público más joven. Otro tipo de público. Estuvo muchísimas semanas en lista se mantuvo muy bien y creo que incluso llegó al top 7. La experiencia ha sido positiva.
El videoclip está dirigido por Hugo Costa, que también firma videos como Face (The Zombie Kids) o Joven Sálvaje (Costa). ¿Recuerdas alguna anécdota curiosa durante su grabación?
La grabación se hizo muy rápida por tema de agendas. Eran las fechas complicadas yo estaba punto de marchar a Estados Unidos y Nano, como suele ser habitual, tiene una agenda que es como una montaña rusa. Pero con esta panda de gamberros fue básicamente muy divertido. Es un video fácil, fresco real y cercano.
Si vamos un poco más atrás en el tiempo me gustaría comentar también tu colaboración con Joan Reyes en Alive Again (2013). Un EP repleto de fuerza y buen rollo con el que volviste a triunfar en todos los sentidos. ¿Cómo recuerdas aquella experiencia?
Soy muy fan de Joan Reyes es un productor muy talentoso hay cosas que la gente no conoce aún de Joan a nivel musical. Tiene mucha clase produciendo. Fue un honor y un gustazo trabajar con él. El proyecto empezó con motivo de la apertura de mi propio sello Relouded. Un sello con aires más atrevidos Algo que creé para poder permitirme el lujo de hacer cualquier cosa musicalmente electrónica.
Alive again fue la primera referencia. Además decidí incorporar un coro de góspel en directo para la fiesta de presentación del sello. Me encanta probar cosas nuevas y experimentar.
Otro de los videos que me encantaría destacar de tu extensa carrera es Big Bad Bitch (2011). En él cuentas con la colaboración del televisivo Rafa Méndez y con la leyenda del cine porno Nacho Vidal. ¿Cómo recuerdas la grabación de aquel video? ¿Funcionó el tema tan bien como soñabas? En aquel momento andábamos embarcados en Discodramah y muy unida a Rafa y todo el equipo. Así que nos volcamos todos en la creación y producción del video. Junto David Arnal fotógrafo y editor, gran amigo mío nos pusimos manos a la obra con el videoclip. Como todo lo que hago con estas personas fue algo divertidísimo. Se rodó en Ibiza en el hotel Pacha y en Lio. Un montón de gente y amigos se volcaron en el rodaje. Participaron incluso varios fans elegidos para la ocasión. Algo muy especial.
Nacho buen amigo mío aceptó colaborar en el video con mucho cariño. Así que no podía salir nada más que un pedazo de video. Es uno de mis temas favoritos de mi carrera y muy orgullosa de ello. Fue una apuesta muy internacional muy avanzada musicalmente el momento. Fue mi primer tema editado independientemente. Y genial. Me dio la oportunidad de decir esta soy yo, quiero abrirme al mercado más internacional y mainstream. Y esto es serio.
En 2010 presentas tu espectáculo Discodramah, toda una performance con presentaciones en vivo, DJs y cuadros de baile espectaculares con la que giras alrededor del planeta. ¿Cómo surgió el concepto de este espectáculo? ¿Cómo los valoras con el paso de los años? Fue una etapa muy dulce, la recuerdo con mucho cariño, creo que una de las mejores de mi carrera. Una de las apuestas más grandes y ambiciosas de mi carrera independiente. Auto subvencionada. Tenía mi elenco de bailarines estaba muy unida a Rafa Méndez y a mi equipo. Éramos como una compañía. Me sentía muy arropada. Fueron unos años muy divertidos y muy creativos. El concepto surgió de que como mente y artista inquieta que soy, amante del baile y de todo lo visual y musical, decidí fusionar todo eso junto. Yo quería hacer una gira, un concierto, un concepto. Un espectáculo. Así que junto a José Cruz y Rafa Méndez me lie la manta la cabeza y lo hicimos.
Si seguimos hablando de éxitos dentro de tu carrera no podemos pasar por alto “Sun Rising Up”, junto al productor David Penn, que se convirtió en todo un hiten la Ibiza de 2005. ¿Qué ha supuesto esta canción en tu carrera? ¿Crees que pudo ser uno de los puntos de inflexión de tu trayectoria artística?
Si por supuesto. Sun rising Up es una de las joyitas de mi carrera. Un clásico. Un orgullo. Yo realmente aluciné un poco con el efecto que este tema tuvo a nivel mundial. Muy agradecida por ello.
Tu carrera, la opinión que el gran público tiene sobre ti, tu forma de comerte el escenario, y un largo etcétera hacen que nos interese muchísimo tu opinión sobre varios aspectos que rodean la música electrónica que nos gustaría saber a través de un rápido cuestionario: ¿Tu DJ preferido del momento y tu ídolo de siempre? Actualmente no tengo ocasión salir mucho a ver o escuchar. Sinceramente prefiero en los pocos ratos libres ir al teatro o asistir a un concierto. Pero si tengo que elegir más que Djs prefiero directos como Disclousure. Me gustó mucho en su momento y respeto un montón a Laurent Garnier.
¿El mejor club de España donde pasar una noche entregado a la música electrónica? Suelo disfrutar más últimamente de lugares al aire libre y con horarios más decentes como Ushuaia si hay concierto o Blue Marlin. Amnesia y Space como clubs de noche son de mis favoritos.
¿Una ciudad europea que deberíamos visitar para disfrutar de su oferta musical?
Londres o Berlín.
¿Un género preferido dentro del maremágnum que circula alrededor del EDM?
Me gusta la vertiente más elegante y lenta del dubstep. Pero empieza a estar limitado y a cansar ya.
¿Lo más impactante que has oído últimamente y nadie se debería perder?
John Vermont. Pronto podréis escuchar y verlo.
¿Hacía donde evolucionará el futuro de la música electrónica?
Menos es más. Esa es la tendencia. Todo está hecho ya. Se va modificando, aderezando, cambiando los tempos, los sonidos, las tendencias… Como si el EDM fuera algo nuevo. Para mi es bacalao bajado de bpm, con sonidos más trabajados y mezclados de otra manera. Yo ya viví esa época. Igual que el House que de nuevo toma fuerza, con sonidos revisitados y más lento y vocales más propias del pop que del soul o el funky.
Por si aún queda algún marciano que no te haya visto en directo… ¿Cómo describirías lo que tu público se va a encontrar si va a ver cantar a Rebeka Brown?
Energía y entrega. Repaso a varios estilos musicales. No me centro en solo uno. Mis temas y algunas versiones de temas conocidos. Alguna que otra improvisación y adaptación.
¿Cuándo te das cuenta que la música es el camino que quieres seguir en tu vida?
De siempre. Fue muy obvio y natural para mí. De bien pequeña. Antes de recalar en la electrónica, has tenido experiencias en el funky, el hip-hop, el rock e incluso has llegado a realizar giras de verano con diferentes orquestas.
¿A qué sabe y huele la fama…?
¿Fama? Nah… Quiero creer que gozo de cierto respeto y reconocimiento por mi trabajo. Eso sí sienta y huele muy bien.
¿Qué sueños y proyectos te quedan por alcanzar?
Muchos. Los sueños y las metas van cambiando contigo. No siempre deseas lo mismo. Porque somos cambiantes. En lo personal supongo que ser madre en algún momento.
Y en lo profesional ahora mismo realizar todo lo que tengo entre manos y una de las vertientes es activar mi carrera de actriz que hace un tiempo aparqué y estoy retomando.

Rihanna played a hilarious prank on Jimmy Kimmel last week. The night before her appearance on his late night talk show, she snuck into his house at 1am and blasted her new single Bitch Better Have My Money, whilst jumping all over his bed! It was all organised with the help of his wife Molly McNearney.
Rihanna was dressed all in black, along with her backing dancers and crew and you see them arriving at Kimmel’s house at 1:05 am. “OK, I’m gonna go wake up Jimmy now. Wish me luck,” she said before heading straight into his bedroom and belting out Bitch Better Have My Money, whilst throwing what looked like 100 dollar bills at him and jumping all over his nice white bed!
It was ostensibly an April Fool’s joke – Rihanna’s is a big fan of Jimmy’s April Fools Pranks and she said that if she was going on the couch, then she wanted to get him back. Well, she certainly managed that! Even though you feel sorry for Jimmy – being woken up in bed like that – you can’t stop laughing!
The 3rd part of Sia’s innovative video trilogy with “Dance Moms” star Maddie Ziegler has landed and WOW. Big Girls Cry is raw, powerful and a tad uncomfortable to watch. Some have called it ‘eerie’ and others ’tear-jerking’ but whatever you think of it there is no doubt that it’s a very human and powerful piece of film. Music website Fuse said Big Girls Cry could be the 39-year-old Australian’s most personal music video to date.
Big Girls Cry is the latest cut from Sia’s chart topping album 1000 Forms of Fear. Directed by Daniel Askill (who also co-directed the first two parts of the trilogy – Chandelier and Elastic Heart) Ziegler performs an interpretive dance that seems way beyond her 12 years. You mostly only see her from the shoulders up, but she manages to create as much magic as she did with her whole body in Chandelier.
Over the past year Sia has managed to create one of the most innovative pop campaigns we have ever witnessed. In 2013 she opted out of the whole ‘fame’ game saying it was like “an abusive mother-in-law”. She removed her face from all publicity materials and if she performs live you only get to see her back. Ziegler has become Sia’s face.

Watch Kendrick Lamar take his rightful throne in his new King Kunta music video. The 27-year old rapper takes it back to his ‘hood in the X-directed clip which was filmed throughout his hometown last month. He performs on top of the Compton swap and you see the whole city come out to show Kendrick love.
King Kunta is the latest single to be taken from Lamar’s chart-topping album To Pimp a Butterfly which debuted at Nº1 in both the UK and the US. It was streamed a record-breaking 9.6m times on Spotify in the first full day of its release. The album remains at Nº1 for the second week running on the Billboard album charts.
Lamar premiered the video last night (April 1st) on huge Jumbotron screens in New York City’s Times Square and Los Angeles’s LA Live entertainment complex.
#ThrowbackThursday – Today we go back to 1969 with the world’s sexiest song. The song reaches a literal climax and mostly for this reason was banned from radio stations in Spain, Sweden, Brazil, the UK, Italy, Poland, Portugal, banned before 11 pm in France and banned from most stations in the US.
Je T’aime, Moi Non Plus was denounced by the Vatican and the L’Osservatore Romano – one report even claimed the Vatican excommunicated the record executive who released it in Italy. Jane Birkin says Gainsbourg called the Pope “our greatest PR man”. The track went to Nº1 all over Europe, staying on the UK charts for 31 weeks.
The title was inspired by a Salvador Dalí comment: “Picasso is Spanish, me too. Picasso is a genius, me too. Picasso is a communist, me neither”. Gainsbourg claimed it was an “anti-fuck” song about the desperation and impossibility of physical love.
The lyrics are written as a dialogue between two lovers during sex and are sung, spoken and whispered over a baroque organ and guitar track in C major. Media speculation at the time suggested that they had recorded live sex to which Gainsbourg told Birkin, “Thank goodness it wasn’t, otherwise I hope it would have been a long-playing record.”

Azealia Banks follows up her recent Wallace online interactive music video with this even crazier creation for her new single Ice Princess. Directed by We Were Monkeys, the video takes us to an icy underworld where Azealia reigns as a Medusa Ice Queen (or Princess) and leads her CGI army of robot ice warriors into an explosive kaleidoscopic volcano. All whilst riding a giant silver snake. Now if that’s not crazy, I don’t know what is.
As per usual, Banks and her production team have upped the game out there. Artists are going to have to start getting seriously creative if they want to stand out against her wacky visuals.
Her fans are embracing the madness and have taken to her YouTube channel to express their views in the comments section of the new video. One popular opinion states: “I thought it was absolutely dope. Retro vibes. Missy Elliot vibes but I also got some rock / animation too. People are way too focused on what’s “current”.. maybe she didn’t want that, stop being negative toward any artist that shows individual expression. Thats the point. Yal are so lost in the sauce. Good work!”
The rap / hip hop track is taken from her debut album Broke With Expensive Taste which was released late last year.
Megan Nicole’s latest production Escape and accompanying video was presented via the 2015 YouTube Music Awards. Directed by Young Astronauts, it follows her in princess-like dresses as she escapes to the enchanted forests and waterfalls in some beautiful countryside. It get’s very Snow White and Cinderella-ish when the woodland creatures start befriending her – wolves, grizzly bears, birds and bunny rabbits alike.
Megan comments “I got to work with a great team of people and a bunch of amazing and cute critters! Hope you like it :)”
The video has gained almost 3 million views since it’s launch last week and her online fan base are in love with the Disney, magical feel to her new sound and visuals. So are we! The song is the title track from her debut album Escape, which was released last October and is available on iTunes.

Fifth Harmony have premiered their latest music video for Worth It in honour of Saturday Night’s Kids’ Choice Awards in which they took home the award for Favourite New Artist. The girls sure know how to rock the stage. Watch them flaunt their sexuality in killer outfits whilst being a BOSS in the workplace.
The song, featuring Kid Ink is from their debut album Reflection, which was released late January 2015 and peaked at N°5 on the US Billboard 200 Chart. The 5 X Factor USA finalists keep bringing the heat, and with more collaborations like this one they’ll be getting N°1 hits in no time.
