Countries all around the world are hosting events to celebrate the life and work of Robert Nesta Marley. (Well, he was actually called Nesta Robert Marley but a Jamacain passport official swapped the names around when he was very young!)

Starting out in 1963 with the group The Wailers, Marley established a distinctive vocal style that would resonate throughout history. He embarked on his solo career in 1974 after he split from the Wailers and his 1977 album Exodus established his reputation as a global icon. He was to become the world’s best-selling artist of all time.

In July 1977 he was found to have a malignant melanoma under the nail of his toe, originating from an accident when playing football. His last words to his son Ziggy were: “Money can’t buy life.”

The Guardian have published an excellent article called “Bob Marley at 70: legend and legacy” – head on over to their website to read it.

To honor Bob Marley’s vision of peace, love and unity visit 1Love – a global non-profit started by the Marley family. They have completed 27 fundraising and awareness projects that have resulted in over $1.3 million in donations to causes that have changed more than 255,250 lives – and they’ve only just begun. Poltergeist 2015

By | Films, Music Videos | No Comments

“They’re heeeeere.” Poltergeist is back! Just like the original 1982 horror film, by Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg, television is a conduit from the spirit world, but in 2015 screens are bigger, and there are screens throughout the house, plus we have smartphones. “The original film commented on how we’ve let television get out of control, babysitting our kids,” says producer Sam Raimi (Evil Dead). “It’s only gotten worse with the handheld portable devices. Screens are everywhere.”

Director Gil Kenan (Monster House) vowed to get the contemporary reboot absolutely right, “Whenever someone approaches material that’s so beloved, there’s a reflexive reaction to be worried,” Kenan said. “It’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We’re working to make a Poltergeist film that lives up to the original’s legacy.”

Screenplay is by Pulitzer Prize-winning dramatist David Lindsay-Abaire with Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt playing the unsuspecting parents of a family that have just settled into a haunted house when the pesky ghosts steal their daughter. They ask for help from a famous supernatural researcher and clairvoyant, played by Jared Harris (Mad Men). But can they rescue her before she disappears for ever?

“The thing that keeps them a family is what they have to draw on, to stay sane, and also to win their daughter back,” says Kenan. “The film is super-scary. And it’s scary on its own terms. I am excited to finally be able to share that with the world.”

The film hits cinemas on July 24.

Will Smith – Men In Black

By | Music Videos | No Comments

#ThrowbackThursday We go back 18 years to when Will Smith won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for the theme track of the 1997 movie Men in Black, in which he also starred.

Smith raps about how the MiB “Walk in shadow, move in silence” and play the role of “first, last and only line of defense, against the worst scum of the universe”, while Coko, a singer from group SWV, adds her soulful soprano and alto vocals in the background.

The song was Simth’s first solo single, following his work with DJ Jazzy Jeff, and features a sample of Forget Me Nots by American rhythm and blues and crossover jazz singer-songwriter Patrice Rushen. The song changes the lyrics of the original chorus from “I want you to remember” to “They won’t let you remember”, in reference to the memory-erasing devices used in the movie.

The song reached Nº1 in 11 countries and hit the top 10 in 9 others.

Cheryl – Only Human

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Ever felt that you could hold the universe in the palm of your hand? Well, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini does exactly that in her new video for Only Human, described by many as ‘the best ballad’ that she has ever recorded. Co-written and produced by Matt Schwartz the song is about accepting one’s human condition – yet at the same time the lyrics play with powerful messages like “You are the universe”. One theme that comes across really strongly is the beauty, power and majesty of this awesome world we live in.

Cheryl announced the news of the song’s release on her Twitter page, describing it as her ‘personal favourite so far’ to be taken from her current album of the same name. Only Human is officially released on March 22 and follows Cheryl’s Nº1 hit I Don’t Care – which gave her a place in the record books as the only British female artist to have 5 chart-topping singles.

Rihanna, Kanye West, Paul McCartney
FourFiveSeconds

By | Music Videos | No Comments

The super-trio of Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney premiered the video for FourFiveSeconds today (February 3). There is so much star power on the screen that they could afford to keep the visuals simple. The simple, artistic, beautifully photographed clip stresses performance over plot line. The black-and-white visual, directed by Inez & Vinoodh is very stripped down and minimalist – quite refreshing! The best part is when you get to see all three of the musical greats on the screen at the same time.

All three stars wear denim in the clip – with Rihanna wearing a vintage Sean John jacket that she called “fucking major”. In the ‘making of’ video she said “Kanye came up with the idea of just doing some real street, denim, all-American-type look. Denim never goes out of style. It’s classic, it’s iconic, just like the fucking Beatles.”

The style of the song is a complete departure for both Rihanna and West, although it does fit McCartney’s style. It has a folky, campfire vibe to it – Lanre Bakare of The Guardian called the song an “acoustic ballad”. Nora Crotty of Elle magazine described the single as an “ode to repenting in the morning for the foolish mistakes you made the night before”.

When sharing the video Rihanna announced that she will debut FourFiveSeconds live from the 57th annual Grammy Awards this Sunday (February 8), accompanied by West and McCartney.

Top 2 ads at the Super Bowl

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Forget the New England Patriots – Furious 7 and Heisenberg won the Super Bowl! We present here the two best ads at the Super Bowl ever!

Esurance, ‘Say My Name’ (to watch the above promo in Creation 5, just tap here.)
A completely awesome commercial where a woman visits her pharmacist who is called Greg. The problem is, he’s not Greg he’s Bryan Cranston in a hazmut suit. The promo ends in a predictable, but wonderful way with Walter White telling the woman to “say his name”.

Furious 7
Although we’ve already had plenty of looks at what the next entry in Hollywood’s most popular franchise has in store for us, the movie’s marketing team waited to unveil the big guns for the Super Bowl spot. Skydiving cars, giant firearms, homes blowing up – this promo is totally badass, completely over-the-top and ridiculous! Which is why we CAN’T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE! For sure this will be the most absurdly action-packed film of the year.

Giorgio Moroder
Right Here, Right Now

By | Music Videos | No Comments

We’re loving the stunning new music video from dance music legend Giorgio Moroder and Pop Princess Kylie Minogue for their latest catchy dance anthem, Right Here, Right Now. Directed by Daniel Börjesson and filmed in Los Angeles, Minogue, at 46, looks sensational in the clip (does this woman ever age??) and takes the front seat in the video whilst you only get to see occasional glimpses of Moroder standing at his decks.

Mororder has been making waves again in the dance music world after returning to the spotlight two years ago with his work on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories album, for which he won his 4th Grammy Award (Album of the Year). Right Here, Right Now is taken from his first solo album in 30 years – 74 is the New 24 – which will feature collaborations from Britney Spears, Sia, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko, Foxes, Matthew Koma, and many more.

Speaking about his return to the dance floor, Giorgio said: “Dance music doesn’t care where you live. It doesn’t care who your friends are. It doesn’t care how much money you make. It doesn’t care if you’re 74 or if you are 24 because… 74 is the new 24!”

Moroder, credited with pioneering synth disco and electronic dance music, has collaborated with Donna Summer, Deborah Harry, Phil Oakley, Irene Cara, David Bowie, Berlin and many others.

74 Is The New 24 will be out in the spring via RCA.

Romeo Santos – Yo También
ft. Marc Anthony

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Victoria’s Secret model Irina Shayk might have just split up with Cristiano Ronaldo but she’s landed herself the lead female role in Romeo Santos and Marc Anthony’s latest music video for Yo También. It’s more like a mini movie than a music video and in the 6 minute footage Irina plays a woman who gets caught up in a love triangle between two gorgeous latinos – one is a mobster (Marc Anthony) and the other is an FBI agent who is tracking him down (Romeo Santos). Despite the men being complete opposites Irina falls for both of them. Messy!

The racy footage might be a bit hard for Ronaldo to watch as Irina flirts with both singers and is mostly seen in nothing more than some skimpy underwear or a bikini. There were rumours that their 5-year relationship was in trouble when Irina didn’t support him in Zurich when he was awarded the FIFA Ballon d’Or award. According to reports, Ronaldo has already moved on from the split with a Spanish news reporter called Lucia Villalon.

The video was filmed in the Dominican Republic and directed by Jessy Terreno. Santos, known as The King of Bachata, has once again hit Nº1 on Airplay on the US Billboard charts. Yo También is the 4th chart-topper from his latest album, Formula Vol. 2. Santos has received nine nominations at the upcoming Premio Lo Nuestro 2015 and in May will kick off the second leg of his US tour.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer

By | Films, Music Videos | No Comments

The first full trailer for the much-anticipated Game of Thrones Season 5 made it’s debut last week at IMAX screenings for the final two episodes of Season 4. The trailer is perfect for the cinema and is action-packed – there are snakes, dragons, a haggard-looking Tyrion and plenty of plots for revenge. “Justice has a Price” is the tagline and main theme to the trailer which is soundtracked with David Bowie’s iconic ‘Heroes’. There’s both action and hope in this epic trailer.

Other main elements from the trailer include a dramatic statement from Littlefinger to Sansa “There’s no justice in this world – not unless we make it. Avenge them” and Daenerys intriguing “I’m not going to stop the wheel – I’m going to break the wheel.”

Game of Thrones returns for its fifth season on April 12 on HBO in the US, and a day later on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Below we present some images from Season 5, courtesy of HBO. They are all very curious as everyone appears to be scattered across the great lands of Westeros but we imagine in the final two or three seasons everyone will start preparing for the battle of the throne—or the zombie apocalypse, whichever comes first.

More action-packed Super Bowl promos

By | Films, Music Videos | No Comments

Ahead of Sunday’s big showdown between New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks there are two more action-packed Super Bowl adverts that have just been aired and you can’t miss them – Terminator: Genisys and the Divergent sequel Insurgent.

Terminator: Genisys

Terminator: Genisys sees Arnold Schwarzenegger return to his role as the T-800 fighting to stop Judgement Day. Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), this is the 5th instalment of the series that began with James Cameron’s 1984 classic The Terminator.

Terminator: Genisys will be released in the US on July 1 and in the UK on July 3.

Insurgent

Insurgent, the Divergent sequel, is a real explosive promo, quite mind-shattering to say the least. Shailene Woodley’s Tris Prior faces off against Kate Winslet’s villainous Jeanine Matthews. Hunted down because she doesn’t fit neatly into just one world, being Divergent could now be Tris’ greatest asset.

Insurgent opens in cinemas on March 20, with Allegiant, the final book in the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth, being released as two movies in March 2016 and March 2017.

Kanye West – Only One

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Kanye West is obviously just a big softie at heart as his latest music video shows. Only One features Kanye and his daughter North West in a video shot just like a home movie. In classic Kanye style though this home-style video is still directed by Oscar-winning ‘Her’ director Spike Jonze. It’s very minimalist and simple, showing Kanye strolling around a foggy field hand-in-hand with his daughter. The song is meant to represent his late mother singing to Kanye about his future.

Only One was released on January 1st and features Paul McCartney on keyboards. It’s the first single to be cut from West’s 7th studio album that, as yet, has no title or release date.

The rapper debuted the clip on the Ellen DeGeneres show on Thursday (January 29) and told Ellen how fatherhood has changed him: “I’ve definitely learned how to compromise more … I’ve learned how to shut up more. I think I’m a better human being because of her [Kim Kardashian] and because of my daughter.”

Only One is the second collaboration between West and McCartney, who also got together with Rihanna for the new single FourFiveSeconds, released last week.

Rose Royce – Car Wash

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

#ThrowbackThursday – Today we go back to 1976 with a track that put the funk into funky – Rose Royce’s chart smashing hit Car Wash. It was the vocals of Gwen Dickey and the 7 introductory handclaps that everyone loved and hooked onto. The song is so full of energy and so funky that it’s very difficult to tire of hearing it, no matter how many times it is mixed and mashed.

Written and produced by Norman Whitfield, it was the group’s debut single and one of the most notable successes of the disco era – the lead single from their first album, the Car Wash Soundtrack. It went to Nº1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Nº1 on the R&B charts, it reached Nº9 on the UK charts a year later in 1977. Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott covered the song in 2004 for the Shark Tale soundtrack.

The film Car Wash introduced comedian Richard Pryor into the mainstream and became a word-of-mouth success, costing $2 million and turning in a gross profit of $20 million.

President Barack Obama
Uptown Funk

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

President Barack Obama is the latest star to (sort of) give Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s song the cover treatment. Obama shows us yet again he’s just too hot for us!

A talented YouTuber, Fadi Saleh, has spent hours putting together this incredible dubbed cover of the current chart topping hit, Uptown Funk, using interview footage of the US President.

Known as “barackdubs” on YouTube, Fadi puts together two of these dubbed cover songs every month! On his YouTube Channel he says “I put words in people’s mouths. baracksdubs mashes together presidential speeches to the tune of popular music, based on fan requests. If the president sings it, it’s a worthy song. Have a suggestion for a song? Tweet the suggestion with the hashtag #baracksdubs.”

We can’t help wondering whether the President watches these himself…we’re sure he would love them!

Fantastic Four – Official Teaser Trailer

By | Films, Music Videos | No Comments

The awesome foursome are here! The first trailer for Marvel’s Fantastic Four has arrived and it looks pretty amazing. The clip features a very serious monologue, presumably spoken by Dr. Franklin Storm (played by Reg E. Cathey) who talks about humankind’s immeasurable desire to discover, invent and build. As he is talking we get our first look at the superheroes – Miles Teller as Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Kate Mara as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (Human Torch).

The producer Simon Kinberg told Collider in a recent interview that the first trailer would feature a “special Easter egg for fans”. We reckon this is the numbers “23.21.190.125” which can be seen for a short moment on the bottom left of the screen as Sue Storm looks intently at a bank of computer screens. If you put these numbers into a browser it’ll open a page about Latveria – the fictional country ruled by Dr. Doom.

We love the question and answer right at the end of the trailer – very thought provoking.

“Be ready for what’s coming…”

“What’s coming?”

“The Answers.”

To watch the trailer in Creation 5, just tap here.

Fantastic Four opens in cinemas on August 7.

She’s Funny That Way – Trailer Nº1

By | Films, Music Videos | No Comments

Jennifer Aniston plays a therapist to a hooker in this hilarious new trailer for She’s Funny That Way. This screwball comedy also stars Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, Kathryn Hahn, Will Forte & Rhys Ifans. The film premiered last summer at the Venice Film Festival and was co-scripted by Peter Bogdanovich and his ex-wife Louise Stratten.

She’s Funny That Way depicts the cast and crew of a Broadway play as they are thrown into chaos when the director (Owen Wilson) casts a former hooker-turned-actress (Imogen Poots) to star opposite his wife (Kathryn Hahn) and his wife’s ex-lover (Rhys Ifans).

The movie features an impressive cast of comedic talents and with a director like Bogdanovich this looks like it could be a really good film. Previously titled Squirrels to the Nuts (we’re glad they changed that title!) the film will premiere on April 10.

Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do

By | Music Videos | No Comments

We’re loving Ellie Goulding’s music video for Love Me Like You do – not only do we get to see Ellie dancing, but we also get more footage from the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie. Fans around the world are gearing up for the release of this erotic thriller and this music video treats us to more Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. The music and lyrics are a wonderful fit for this movie which is adapted from E.L. James best-selling novel: ‘On the edge of paradise. Every inch of your skin is a holy grail I’ve got to find. Only you can set my heart on fire, on fire. Yeah, I’ll let you set the pace.

In a recent interview with Capital FM, Ellie said: “I am in it! That’s me! I’m dancing in it! I basically have become fascinated with ballroom dancing so I was like, ‘Can I please do some dancing in it?’ So they let me do that.’ There’s a guy in it, Charlie, and there’s some really sensual moments in it, and it’s in a really beautiful house – I think it’s one of my favourite videos.”

The new track from Goulding features on the Fifty Shades of Grey movie soundtrack along with contributions from Beyoncé, The Weeknd, The Rolling Stones, Sia and Frank Sinatra.

Happy Birthday – R. Kelly

By | Music Videos | No Comments

R.Kelly has just released a very typical stripper-laden birthday song and accompanying video. As per usual, the beginning of the video shows him waking up in a bed full of half-naked women. The girls of course, have perfectly done hair and makeup. (Not like they’ve had a wild crazy all-nighter or anything.)

R.Kelly has no recollection of what happened the previous night but no worries! One of his half-naked lady friends reminds him he recorded the whole thing on his brand new iPhone 6+… What then follows can only be described as ratchet.

The song’s not terrible though.
If it’s your birthday.

Chris Brown – Autumn Leaves ft. Kendrick Lamar

By | Music Videos | No Comments

The industry is abuzz with Chris Brown’s new music video for Autumn Leaves starring his on again, off again ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran. Unfortunately, Kendrick Lamar makes no appearance in the video, despite having a lengthy rap section during the second half of the song.

(To watch Autumn Leaves in Creation 5 just tap here.)

The samurai-warrior themed love battle video strongly resembles Nicki Minaj’s Your Love music vid, released back in 2010 in which she is forced to fight a fellow female ninja warrior for the man they both desire. Nicki Minaj is beaten and is shown bleeding out in the arms of her lover at the end. In Chris Brown’s case, it’s not so much that he loses his geisha love in the music video, but he has in reality.
