Pharrell Williams – It Girl

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Pharrell Williams has snagged the world-famous Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to create his new music video for It Girl. It’s a hyper-colourful tribute to video games and anime.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

This new video is the latest collaboration between Pharrell and Murakami – Pharrell remixed Last Night, Good Night, the theme song to Murakami’s film Jellyfish Eyes. Directed by Mr. Fantasista Utamaro this visual is a refreshingly different approach compared to Pharrell’s other videos – although nothing can compete with the creativity and genius of the 24 hour Happy video.

The song is a relaxed and groovy track – one of the stand-out tracks from his solo album G I R L. Throughout the crazy, kaleidoscopic 5-minute clip there are plenty of nods to 80s video games and even a reimagined Mount Rushmore complete with a Pharrell head.

The video premiered on Tuesday 30 September on the The Today Show as well as on the Times Square billboard. It’s the 4th single to be taken from G I R L following Happy, Marilyn Monroe, and Come Get It Bae.

Pharrell has experienced so much success in the last few years – especially with his chart-busting track Happy, which has now become the UK’s most downloaded song of all time: “Most of this whole entire experience of Happy, I attribute to everyone else. When you talk about the success of the song in the UK and it being the most downloaded song, I’m totally honoured to be a part of it but I am very clear as to where the emphasis and the appreciation and the accolade should go – and that’s to the people.”

Lorde – Yellow Flicker Beat
From The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Lorde has finally unleashed Yellow Flicker Beat the lead single from the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Soundtrack. This juicy dark jam is Lorde’s attempt at getting inside Katniss’ head.

(To watch the video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

“It’s my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love,” Lorde wrote in a Tumblr post on Monday (Sept. 29). “It’s my attempt at getting inside her head, katniss’. I hope you like it.”

Lorde sings: “I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm/ And the scars that mark my body, they’re silver and gold.” These amazing lyrics, coupled with the dusky tone of the song, reveal Lorde’s talent at crafting a character that mixes Katniss Everdeen’s toughness with her own gothic vibes. She sings about heading home, fires, courage and “yellow flicker beats” sparking up her heart. This is empowerment – Hunger-Games-style – with minimal synths and rattling drums. We’re hooked!

Yellow Flicker Beat is her first song since the release of the Grammy-Award winning debut album Pure Heroine. Lorde has curated “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” soundtrack, due out this autumn before the movie release on November 21. The track is available at all digital retailers as of today (September 29). The full track list for the soundtrack is yet to be revealed.

Amazing to think that it was only a year ago when Lorde leapt to Nº1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her debut single Royals. She’s come a long way since then! She is the singer-songwriter of the moment – and took first place in Billboard’s annual 21 Under 21 list this year – check it out here.

Maroon 5 – Animals

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Adam Levine turns American Psycho in Maroon 5‘s new music video for Animals. Extremely confrontational and purposefully provocative. Halloween has arrived a month early….

WARNING: Watch at your own risk, and definitely don’t watch if blood makes you squeamish.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

We’re not sure about this video – it does fit the lyrics well: “Baby, I’m preying on you tonight/Hunt you down, eat you alive/Just like animals” – but it has some absurd, horrible elements. It made us feel sick the fist time we watched it.

“All in the name of Art” you might say – yes, fair enough, but it makes Levine look so bad. It certainly makes a statement and will get people talking – but will they be talking about it in the right way? All publicity is good publicity? It’s grotesque and gory with an excessive and unnecessary amount of blood. Anyway – enough said, make your own mind up and check out the video.

Levine’s real wife, supermodel Behati Prinsloo, stars in the music video as the victim of Levine’s obsession. Directed by Samuel Bayer the clip does call to mind Christian Bale in American Psycho – Levine might not be wielding an axe but he’s certainly nailed that happy-scary-physco facial expression down to a tee.

Animals is the 2nd single to be taken from Maroon 5’s fifth studio album V, following the hugely successful Maps.

Levine and guitarist James Valentine recently told Digital Spy that V might just be their last album…

Hilary Duff – All About You

By | Music Videos | No Comments

After a long time away from the music scene, American singer and actress Hilary Duff is back, announcing a new album for next Autumn. Although there is no official date for the release we do know that it will be called “All or Nothing”. This will be Duff’s 5th studio album and it will contain original material from 2007.

For this long awaited return to the music scene the ex Disney star has chosen to record with RCA Records: “I took a break from music which has given me the strength I needed to carefully choose my next steps. I’m very proud to have recorded this album.” After releasing the first single from the album this summer, ‘Chasing the Sun’, Hilary returns with this second pop-folk number. The video is fresh and spontaneous and a confident Hilary shows off her impressive dancing skills.

The story shows a young girl who suffers a full-blown crush on a handsome hunk that she sees in a restaurant. From there, the carousel of love begins. ‘All About You’ is racing up the Australian charts and is already in the Top 20. This might not seem that significant, but you have to remember that Hilary hasn’t made it into the Top 20 for seven long years – the last time was in 2007 with her hit ‘With Love’.

This new music video and the upcoming album are not the only projects that the former Lizzie McGuire star is working on. Soon to debut on American TV is the ‘Younger’ series in which Duff plays a girl named Kelsey – the leading star in the production. Directed and produced by Darren Star (Sex and the City), the new show will also star the winner of a Tony Award, Sutton Foster.

One Republic – I Lived

By | Music Videos | No Comments

‘I Lived’ is the fifth single taken from ‘Native’ (2013), the latest album from the American pop rock band One Republic. The single follows the success of their previous track, ‘Something I Need’, which could be heard on all the main American radio stations during the first few months of 2014.

‘Native’ is the bands third studio album and marks a change of direction in their style. This change hasn’t been a huge success, from a commercial point of view – with the exception being the huge hit ‘Counting Stars’ which is still at Nº3 on the iTunes charts in America. ‘I Lived’ is an emotional homage to Bryan Warnecke, a young fan who has battled for 15 years with cystic fibrosis, a terrible hereditary condition that primarily affects the lungs and has a life expectancy of not much more than 36 years.

The video shows footage of a young Bryan talking about his treatment and shows images of his childhood – playing sports and overcoming the hurdles of daily life. “It feels like you are breathing through a straw. When I try to breathe hard, it really hurts. But I want to make the most of the life I have and enjoy myself as much as possible. My biggest fear is not being able to do that”, says Bryan during the video. The video was produced by Taylor Vandegrift and has its high point when Bryan goes to a OneRepublic concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, after being sent a special invitation by frontman Ryan Tender.

The video concludes with a message that says how Bryan and his friends have traveled more than 1200 miles and raised $300,000 for cystic fibrosis research.

T.I – Whatever You Like

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Today we’re wishing T.I (Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.) a very happy birthday! it’s incredible to think he’s already been in the game for over 15 years and today he turns just 34. We couldn’t resist celebrating with his unforgettable song ”Whatever You Like” from his sixth studio album, Paper Trail. This song was his first Nº1 hit as a lead artist, and today is all about him.

Back in 2008, during the debut-week, the song had the best-to-date sales by a Rap Track. T.I then broke his own record two months later when his song ”Live Your Life” sold 334,000 digital downloads in it’s first week. Whatever You Like had 205,000 downloads.

The song also holds the record for the biggest leap to the top on the Hot 100 charts. In the span of just one week, it flew from Nº71 to Nº1. This record was held for six consecutive weeks before T.I’s next hit ”Live Your Life” broke that record too. Leaping from Nº80 to Nº1.

Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince –
Boom! Shake The Room

By | Music Videos | No Comments

The beloved Will Smith turns 46 today! What a jam-packed career he’s had, being a music star, movie star and managing his celebrity family. In April 2007, Newsweek called him the most powerful actor in Hollywood.

Though we are far from the days when Will was known as ‘The Fresh Prince’, we are using todays #ThrowbackThursday to take us through time to the early 90s. We can see hip-hop rap has not changed all that much in the last 20 odd years, as this song by Will Smith ”The Fresh Prince” and DJ Jazzy Jeff is still all about butts… and shaking them.

”Boom! Shake The Room” started a 2 week run at Nº1 in the UK back when it was released in July of 1993. It was the second single from their fifth studio album, ”Code Red.” The song also peaked at number thirteen on The Billboard Hot 100. There were many mixes made of the song, we present the most famous of them all: The Street Mix.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Set to be released early next year (2015) This action packed clever thriller is based on the original comic book, Kingsman: The Secret Service. Safe to say it falls under the brilliant genre of spy thrillers. Definitely a favourite as genres go. Perhaps we’ll be seeing undertones of James Bond and Johnny English?

The plot is, in a nutshell; trouble-causing street kids recruited, and put under the most brutal of tests by a classified spy organization. Sort of like an elite army training. But much much cooler. The timing of these particular recruits is on par with an emerging global threat from a twisted tech genius. What could possibly wrong?

Awesome plot aside, it’s the cast members that have us eager to see this film. To name but a few legends: Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, and Colin Firth.

Eminem – Guts Over Fear ft. Sia

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Eminem and Sia come together for their second collaboration in this empowering rap song. The chorus showcases Sias’ unique, forceful vocals. As for the versus, Eminem’s endless magic on the mic takes us deep into his personal experiences.

The song debuted at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 134,328 copies in it’s first-week sales. Previews of this song first premiered in the trailer for the much anticipated film ”The Equalizer” starring Denzel Washington. The song was officially released to iTunes on August 25, 2014. The same day Eminem announced his plans to release a new album titled Shady XV. Presumably named in honour of The Slim Shady LP’s 15 year anniversary.

There’s not an official music video released yet, but this lyric video is perfect. We’re just thrilled that Eminem and Sia decided to work together again, and we hope this won’t be their last time.

Pixie Lott – Break Up Song

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Pixie Lott and her boyfriend, model-of-the-moment Oliver Cheshire, get hot and steamy in the new video for her single Break Up Song. It’s a beautiful ballad with bittersweet lyrics – Pixie says it’s her favourite from her new album.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Don’t you just love it when music videos are right on target and capture the song? Well this one does exactly that – the chemistry between the two of them is perfect, naturally. It’s not the first time they have worked together either – he invited her into his world when they recently collaborated on a photo shoot for the agency Select Model Management.

Directed by Nick Bartlett and filmed at London’s Waldorf Hotel, the video tells the story of a couple having a passionate relationship – with all the trials and intensity that goes with young love. Break Up Song is the third single to be lifted from Pixie’s self-titled album, which was released in August this year.

Back in the real world, Oliver and Pixie have been dating for 4 years now – and neither are in a rush to tie the knot. Speaking to Attitude magazine, Oliver said: “We’re both still young, she’s 23, I’m 26. I think a lot of people rush in crazy to stuff, which is fine, you can do, if that suits you. But why change it, if we’re happy at the moment? We are both very career driven at the moment. Pixie’s got her new album out and I’m busy flying about everywhere. We’re both happy with the way things are! We live together, we see our friends a lot, I think it’s important to see your friends a lot, we’re always going out for dates and nice dinners.”

Victoria Louise Lott was nicknamed Pixie for being such a tiny baby, she is one of the 15 celebs who are competing in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Pitbull – Fireball ft. John Ryan

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Can anyone watch Pitbull’s new video for Fireball and honestly say they don’t want to join the party? It’s a Latin Dance Explosion, tinged with Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Brilliant! Join Mr Worldwide as he travels to a fun-filled Havana night club.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Yesterday (September 19) the Miami rapper released his new music video and it fits perfectly with the vibe of the song. The party atmosphere is heightened with guest artist Ryan Tender on the guitar. Set in a latin-themed night club the clip starts off in black and white and turns to colour when a gorgeous girl in a stunning red dress appears on the scene. It’s at this point that the Who Framed Roger Rabbit ode comes into play. Men’s hearts beat out of their chests, their eyes pop out and their tongues drop to the floor. But of course, the beauty only has eyes for Mr Worldwide. A cool trio of celebrities make brief cameo appearances – watch out for Jenna Marbles, Bart Baker and Brittany Furlan.

Fireball is the first single from Pitbull’s upcoming album Globalization – due out later this year.

Last night was the grand finale of America’s Got Talent, held at Radio City Music Hall. Pitbull, along with the Rockettes, New York’s most talented dancing divas, performed live and brought the house down.

Jennifer Lopez – Booty ft. Iggy Azalea

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Bootylicious! Jennifer Lopez has released her new music video for Booty, ft Iggy Azalea and it makes Anaconda look tame! We’re practically speechless.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

After weeks of teasing fans with clips here and there JLO finally uploaded her Booty video yesterday. We knew it was going to be super sexy and OTT but nothing could prepare us for the actual reality. There is so much butt that it’s difficult to take it seriously, let alone focus. The steamy clip shows massage oil dripping everywhere, risqué outfits, erotic dancing and an overdose of twerking! I guess JLO and Iggy are the ultimate #TwerkTeam.

If you’ve got, flaunt it! JLO is 45 years old and the mother of 6-year old twins, which is hard to believe as she looks great when up against Iggy at 24 years old.

The song was originally recorded with Pitbull and has been remixed with new vocals by Iggy Azalea for Lopez’s 8th studio album AKA. It’s the third official release from AKA, following I Luh Ya Papi and First Love. AKA reached Nº6 on the US Billboard 200 and Nº41 in the UK.

Into The Woods

By | Music Videos | No Comments

The new movie poster for Disney’s highly anticipated big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony winning musical Into the Woods, shows Meryl Streep as a really creepy witch! The movie is certainly on our watch list! Into the Woods hits theaters at Christmas time, and what a brilliant cast – the Hollywood big names, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Emily Blunt, and Johnny Depp as the Wolf.

(To watch this trailer in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Here’s the official synopsis: Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.

Back in June, Into the Woods fans were outraged when the Oscar-winning lyricist Sondheim revealed that the studio would be softening some of the darker plot elements of the story in an attempt to make the movie much more ‘family friendly.’ However, Sondheim has since stated: “Having now seen the movie a couple of times, I can happily report that it is not only a faithful adaptation of the show, it is a first-rate movie.”

Nick Jonas – Jealous

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Nick Jonas has released a truly trippy music video for his new single Jealous. Join Nick on a psychedelic, groovy ride as he sings to his girlfriend, former Miss USA, Olivia Culpo.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Directed by artist Peter Tunney, the surreal video sees Jonas riding a motorcycle through a cartoonish world, playing basketball, showing off his fighting skills and getting a bit jealous of the attention his girlfriend is receiving from some other guys.

What we really love about this video are the little inspirational hidden messages everywhere, on road signs, on instruments, painted on walls – “Remain Calm,” “No Whining”, “Courage”, “Don’t panic” and “the time is now”.

“I had a specific experience that sort of inspired me to write this song and got the ball rolling in that sense, and it’s not limited to that by any means,” Nick told MTV News. “This video is about getting a little bit deeper and opening the conversation up and just having fun while we do it.”

They certainly had fun with this video! Olivia strips down to her lingerie to play the cello in the clouds (as you do), Nick joins a sweet old lady in the clouds to play the piano and gets beaten at basketball by a guy who looks twice his size.

Nick debuted the video yesterday (September 16th) on his 22nd birthday and invited fans to join him at New York’s South Street Seaport. This is the latest single from his upcoming self-titled album which is out November 11.

It’s great to see Nick breaking out even more from his Jo-Bro status and to hear people talking about Nick Jonas the solo artist, as opposed to Nick Jonas former Jonas Brother.

Chris Brown – Don’t Be Gone Too Long ft. Ariana Grande

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Chris Brown and Ariana Grande look like Romeo and Juliet in their new fantasy video for Don’t Be Gone Too Long. Filmed in a medieval setting with Shakespearian storyline and costumes – this is definitely different! We love it!

(To watch this mini-movie in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Chris Brown’s long-awaited album X is finally due out today (September 16th) and at the weekend he delivered an early treat by sharing this new fairytale video for Don’t Be Gone Too Long, featuring Ariana Grande.

Shot in a dark palette this mini-movie stars Brown and Grande as medieval lovers. Heavies, that look like Royalty, appear on horseback to separate them, and Brown is taken away to prison in chains while Grande is taken as a prisoner and kept on a castle balcony – ala Romeo and Juliet. In between the narrative are shots of Brown dancing, acrobatic style, and a tutu-clad Grande showing off some awesome ballet – complimenting Brown’s dancing style rather perfectly.

The video was directed by Chris Brown himself and the three-and-a-half-minute mini-movie is an unexpected change from Brown’s other music videos. He posted a link to the video on his Twitter page, saying, “I directed this one also.. Wanted to do something different” — (@chrisbrown) September 13, 2014

The album X will feature collaborations with plenty of other artists as well – Lil Wayne, Tyga, Usher, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Grab your bow and arrow quick, the new trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is here and Jennifer Lawrence kicks ass!

(To watch this trailer in Creation 5, just tap here.)

In this first full-length trailer Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) starts a revolution! We even get to see her shoot down planes! Fans get their first look at new characters played by Julianne Moore (President Snow’s rival) and Natalie Dormer (Cressida, another of the Capitol’s rebels).

Lorde was recently announced as the music curator for the “inspired by” soundtrack for the film. The only disappointment for us in this trailer is that it didn’t premiere any of this new music – still, it didn’t stop us wondering what kind of music Lorde will choose.

Jennifer Lawrence stars alongside other returning stars, Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark), Liam Hemsworth (Gale Hawthorne), Woody Harrelson (Haymitch Abernathy) and Donald Sutherland – the evil President Snow. The late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman is also seen reprising his unfinished role of Plutarch Heavensbee.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, ‘Mockingjay Part 1’ is the first part of the adaptation of the third book in Suzanne Collins’ hugely successful fiction trilogy. Part 1 comes out November 21, 2014. The previous two films grossed over 900 million dollars worldwide which puts Jennifer Lawrence in the Guiness Book of Records as the world’s most successful film heroine.

Alesso – Tear The Roof Up

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Swedish DJ/producer Alesso made pop history this weekend when his new music video for Tear The Roof Up became the first video to premiere on SnapChat.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

For those who don’t know, SnapChat is the hugely popular photo and video app whose content is viewed a half-billion times daily. The video premiered exclusively on SnapChat at 11:30am (ET) and was followed by the official worldwide release at noon on Vevo and is now available for purchase on Beatport.

The trippy video was directed by Drew Cox and it has a slightly creepy feel which does keeps you hooked. The whole thing is in striking black and white and uses slow-motion imagery of different characters who are ready, we suppose, to ‘tear the roof up’. “It’s very intense, it’s very energetic and it’s a lot of fun,” explains Alesso.

The Grammy-nominated chart-topper looks set to make the transition from budding producer to household name. He is only 23 years old and has amassed 2.5 million followers on Facebook, almost a million followers on Twitter and 506,000 followers on Instagram. His upcoming debut album is highly anticipated by his army of fans – something they have been yearning for since the start of his career.

Jack White – Would You Fight for My Love?

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Jack White is a sharply dressed bar hound in his new art deco-styled music video for Would You Fight for My Love?

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

The clip was directed by Robert Hales and written by both Hales and White. According to the press release the whole video was “conceptualized, produced and shot within a 24-hour period,” and filmed in 6 hours at the historic Cruise Room at the Oxford Hotel in Denver.

With a slick new haircut and a classic blue suit, the dapper-looking singer sits alone at a bar fidgeting with a drink (“It’s not enough that I love you / There’s all these things I have to prove to you”). He sings about his frustrations of feeling like a ghost and wondering why he can’t be loved back. He tries to avoid eye contact with the mysterious female that appears throughout the clip. Only the jukebox and an old-school microphone provide some solace for the troubled rocker.

The song comes from White’s chart-topping album Lazaretto, released in June this year on his Third Man Records label through Columbia. The album shot straight to Nº1 on the Billboard 200, selling 138,000 copies its first week, of which 40,000 were vinyl – the biggest selling record since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking record sales in 1991.

Jack White is currently on tour in North America and is heading to Europe and the UK in November.
