Muse – Psycho

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Muse get their war faces on in their new lyric video for Psycho. This adrenaline-pumped song is from their upcoming album, Drones, set to be released June 8, 2015.

The video begins with what seems to be a drill sergeant yelling a spew of army-drenched authoritative dialogue which is featured throughout the entire track, giving the song this intense edge from the get-go. Muse has gone a lot heavier and darker with this style of music, but their fans are crazy for it.

The band co-produced the disc with Robert John ‘’Mutt’’ Lange who has produced albums for the likes of AC/DC, Maroon 5, Nickelback and Shania Twain. The band is currently on tour in the UK and will be travelling around the rest of Europe during the summer months.

Frontman Matt Bellamy had this to say about the track: “To me, drones are metaphorical psychopaths which enable psychopathic behaviour with no recourse. The world is run by drones utilising drones to turn us all into drones. This album explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors.”

So, safe to say they’re pretty obsessed with drones at the minute, fair play to them..

Miranda Lambert – Little Red Wagon

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

A cheeky Miranda Lambert struts her stuff in new music video Little Red Wagon, her third single off new album Platinum. Just released a couple of days ago to YouTube and the video already has over 2 million views. However, a fair chunk of her fans seem displeased with the her new look and sound, missing her old country rock.

Popular opinions agree that she’s sold herself out to the mainstream masses to remain relevant. They dislike how this new music video is so sexualised, and is distasteful of a married woman. A YouTube comment with over 100 likes states: ”There was so much sexual over tones in this video that I feel that’s all the video was about. The song got lost in the video. All we really got was tits & ass….I love Miranda but HATE the direction she’s taking her music’’

Personally, we don’t see what problems her husband could possibly have with such a fun, naughty, yet innocent enough production by his successful wife. Sure, the video is very sexual, more so than usual for her, but it seems almost all videos are like that nowadays, we’re just obsessed with the cute pooch side-kick who stars in the clip alongside her and her outrageous red boots.

Azealia Banks – Wallace

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Azealia Banks is definitely back in the game with her state-of-the-art new music video for Wallace. The song is from her 2014 debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste, which she will be performing in the summer at a series of festivals. The tempo and style of the song matches the trippy visuals perfectly. Directed by Nick Ace and Rob Soucy, they worked closely alongside Banks and producer Collins to bring this interactive concept to life.

As long as you have a webcam, you are able to jump right in there with her and guide her movements as she sings. The clip works exclusively on the Google Chrome browser and is available on her website. Once redirected to her site, all you have to do is click “Allow’’ for your webcam to be activated and then at some point you will actually be in her video. There’s also a cool ‘Lyrics’ tab on the left that you can click and the words fall down the screen like rain as she’s singing them.

You can share your experience online with the hashtag #WallaceVideo

wallace-Creation5web3

Azealia comments on her own experience of ’the making of’; “Working side by side with this incredible team of tech-creatives was a truly unique and enjoyable experience, and I’m thrilled to be part of a potentially groundbreaking new ‘norm’ in the future of making music videos.”

“I’m such a huge fan of technology and creative new ways of interacting and engaging with fans, so this collaboration was perfect for me. Music videos are as much of an art form as the music itself. The more I can push myself in my creative endeavours, the better.”

The Script – Man on a Wire

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

The Script’s brand new music video for Man on a Wire is out! and tough love is what it’s all about. Shot in Cape Town, South Africa, lead vocalist Danny O’Donoghue shows off his wire-walking skills, attempting to win back the love of his life. The one he is trying to get over, according to the song, because she’s bad for his health… Apart from that one mixed message, the song and video got the scary heights part on par with the lyrics,

The higher I get
The more I miss the ground
No safety nets
Now you’re not around
I have to keep walking
To keep me from falling down

Feels like I’m walkin’ on a tightrope
My heart is in my throat
I’m counting on high hopes to get me over you

The video was inspired by the French tightrope walker Philippe Petite who has his own famous documentary ‘Man on Wire.’ The song is their latest hit single, taken from their 4th album No Sound Without Silence.

In an interview with Metro, Danny shares what it was like filming; “We flew to Cape Town, we flew the director over from the USA, we secured a big budget and then suddenly it was the training day and I had to step off the building! It was so scary, everyone tells you not to look down but as soon as I stepped off I looked down. You can’t not look down. It doesn’t get any easier either, the wire is two inches in diameter and every step feels like the first step.’

Funnily enough, and ever so fitting, that his experience is a great way to describe having to get over somebody you loved. Just like in the song.

Zedd – I Want You To Know
ft. Selena Gomez

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

A kaleidoscopic club adventure is had by a sultry Selena Gomez in the new music video for I Want You To Know. Co-written by Zedd, OneRepulic frontman Ryan Tedder and KDrew, there’s no wondering how it got so popular so quickly.

The music video was posted just yesterday (March 10) and already has 700,000 views. By the time you’re reading this it will probably have well over a million. The audio only version, posted just a couple of weeks ago, has racked up an impressive 12,000,000.

An adorable tuxedo-clad Zedd just watches Selena frolicking around the dance floor for most of the video with her bouncing cleavage. I mean, who wouldn’t be staring? Some lucky takers manage to bump and grind with her for a few seconds but she mainly wants to rave solo. Violently flipping all that hair around can’t be fun for close-by dancers anyway… So we’re pretty sure that’s the reason she’s been given her personal space. She does however take a break from all the hyper dancing to reapply her lipgloss and smooch her reflection in the mirror. Again, who wouldn’t want to smooch those puffy red shiny lips at such close proximity?

Ohh not you? Fair game. Just watch the video then, un-seduced.

Ciara – I Bet

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Ciara’s definitely showing her ex-boo what he’s missing in her newest music video I Bet. Released onto her Vevo channel on March 9, the visual shows her amazing dancing (ballerina swag style), poise and sexiness, strength and vulnerability.

The song is the first single off her new album Jackie, due this spring (which she named after her mother, awww). Ciara explained “It’s inspired by how I can now see the world through her eyes, being a mom, and so that’s where the title came from.’’

There’s nothing like the love and support of your own mother to get you through a harsh breakup, and this song is very likely to be about the on again – off again relationship between her and rapper Future. The couple called off their engagement back in August 2014 when news broke of him cheating on her. The worst part of the whole ordeal is that there is a 9 month old son involved, Future, named after his father.

CiCi’s fans are outraged about the situation, but support her fully, with popular opinion’s such as this YouTube commenter: “I really hope her new album is a breakthrough. That man made her babymama #4, didn’t marry her, and cheated. I want her to touch souls on this album…anyway love the vibe of this song.”

Babymama drama aside, we’re all here for the music and Ciara couldn’t be happier with her new album. She expressed to the media “it’s my favourite album I have made thus far in my career. It is a new me. A new attitude. Sonically I am so content; I had my dream team of producers who I always wanted to work with.’’

Yeah I love you.
I’m all cried out, I’m all tried out, I’m all fired out.
Right now It’s killing me
‘Cause now I have to find someone else
When all I wanted was you…

Sam Smith & John Legend, two of the main men in the industry today, have done something beautiful for a good cause. With all proceedings going to charity, this couldn’t be a more flawless rendition of Lay Me Down.

Written by Sam Smith himself, the song is originally from his debut studio album In The Lonely Hour (2014), and was the lead single. Sam has been quoted as saying that it holds a very special place in his heart. He loves the song so much that it’s going to be on his new album as well, serving as his next single.

“I recently visited a Comic Relief-funded project in my hometown which supports the young LGBT community in London. I’m extremely proud that my single will help raise money for projects like this and many others in the UK and across Africa.”

Legend added: “Sam is such a talented artist. We’ve been looking forward to working together for a while now. I’m so glad we could collaborate on such a great song and for such a great cause.”

The Veronicas – Cruel

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

The Veronicas are still wearing black, but bad-ass as ever in their new music video for Cruel.

The song is off the twins’ self-titled third studio album, and the visuals for the video came to life through the inspiration of the great horror film directors such as David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino.

Full of revenge, the video follows the girls as they go about exacting it. Overkill? Maybe a little.

Happy Birthday to Bryan Cranston!

By | Films, Music Videos

Former Breaking Bad star, Bryan Cranston, celebrates his 59th birthday today. The show may be over, and Cranston may never have another role to equal that one, but Breaking Bad was undeniably masterful and it will certainly be watched for many years to come. His legacy is set!

bryan-cranston-Creation5-3

He was born Bryan Lee Cranston in Canoga Park, California and aside from his role as Walter White in the AMC crime drama series Breaking Bad, Cranston also gained notoriety for his role as Hal in the Fox comedy series Malcolm in the Middle and Dr. Tim Whatley in the NBC comedy series Seinfeld.

For Breaking Bad, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series four times, including three consecutive wins (the second time in television history after Bill Cosby in I Spy during the 1960s). After becoming one of the producers of Breaking Bad in 2011, he also won the award for Outstanding Drama Series twice. The role also earned him five Golden Globe nominations and one win in 2014, nine Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations with four wins and five Saturn Award nominations with two wins.

“Your performance as Walter White was the best acting I have seen – ever.” That comes from an email Anthony Hopkins sent to Bryan Cranston. We’re in total agreement. Tom Hanks stars in ‘I Really Like You’

By | Music, Music Videos

Carly Rae Jepsen certainly got a lot of help from her friends for her latest star-studded music video. The I Really Like You music video has Tom Hanks as the central focus and it may be his greatest one-man role since Castaway – he even tolerated a cameo from Justin Bieber! The music video premiered on BravoTV.com’s The Daily Dish and Jepsen said in a statement: “I wanted a video that made people laugh and smile and just feel joy! I really think we captured that and can’t wait to finally be able to share it with my fans!”

I-really-like-you-creation5web2

The Canadian pop singer spoke about the lyrics in a press release: “Lyrically, it’s about that time in a relationship when it’s too soon to say ‘I love you,’ but you’re well past, ‘I like you’ and you’re at the ‘I really, really like you’ stage.” Scooter Braun, Jepsen’s manager spoke to Billboard about the potential of the record. “I told her that she couldn’t come out with anything unless it was on the level of ‘Call Me Maybe.’ And now we have a new one that is on that level.”

Jepsen’s upcoming studio album features some great collaborations with Dev Hynes, Tegan and Sara, Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij, Max Martin, and Ariel Rechtshaid (Charli XCX, HAIM). It will be released this summer on Schoolboy Records/Interscope.

Big Sean – Blessings
ft. Drake, Kanye West

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Blessings on blessings. Big Sean is priest and sinner in his dark and stormy music video for Blessings featuring Drake and Kanye West. In the symbolic black and white visual, directed by Darren Craig, each rapper gets his own spotlight, although all three never appear together. Big Sean features in various scenes including walking up a stairway to heaven.

A Kanye-less version of Blessings appears on Big Sean’s new studio album, Dark Sky Paradise which is currently Nº1 on the Billboard album charts. Big Sean tweeted: “Thank u guys for an amazing week and giving me my 1st #1 album! Dark Sky Paradise! The support means everything. truly Blessed!”

Blessings is the 3rd single from Dark Sky Paradise, following Paradise and I Don’t Fuck With You. Drake appears once on the album, while West drops verses on All Your Fault and One Man Can Change the World, which features vocals from John Legend.

West talked about the video during his emotional interview with BBC Radio’s Zane Lowe. “I couldn’t have been happier to go and shoot this video with two of the hottest rappers in the game. Well, let’s be respectful and truthful: the hottest rapper and one of the hottest rappers in the game. And I fall somewhere in that field.”

Hozier – Someone New

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Natalie Dormer from Game of Thrones stars in Hozier’s new video for his latest single Someone New. The song is a happy, swinging little number with strong gospel vibes in the backing chorus yet the video is darkly sensual. Hozier only appears in virtual silhouette whilst Dormer carries the storyline and locks lips with a ton of different partners throughout the clip. You sense a lot of loneliness as she stares sadly into the distance.

The video was directed by Anthony Byrne, with the concept written by the artist’s brother, Jon Hozier-Byrne along with David Reilly from Stoneface Films. Someone New is taken from the Irish singer-songwriter’s self-titled debut album, which is available in stores and on iTunes now.

Hozier’s breakthrough hit Take Me to Church is still at Nº5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Nº2 on the UK charts. Hozier is currently on a huge world tour in support of his critically acclaimed debut album. Find all tour dates and festival appearances on his website.

Enrique Iglesias – Noche Y De Dia
ft. Yandel, Juan Magan

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

A worthy successor to Bailando, Noche y De Día, the new single from Enrique Iglesias featuring reggeaton star Yandel and ‘electrolatino’ king Juan Magan has a seXXXy music video. Lots of sweaty dancing, hot girls and some beautiful footage of Galicia in northern Spain.

The song is certainly catchy and is sure to be a chart topper. The track is taken from Iglesisas’ 10th studio album, Sex and Love. interestingly, all the English-language singles on this album have flopped, whilst the Spanish language ones have topped the charts everywhere.

The music video was directed by Alejandro Perez, who also directed Balilando – and centres around an underground dance party. The visual is proving to be a bit controversial though as according to reports in the Spanish media the government of Galicia paid 300,000 euros to promote the region and yet the images – including the famous cathedral of Santiago de Compostela – only apear in the first 45 seconds of the video. Many people are up in arms saying that the money could have been used in social activities or for the health system.

Natalie La Rose – Somebody ft. Jeremih

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Natalie La Rose is one of 2015’s breakout stars. Her scorching debut single Somebody ft. Jeremih is a groovy, irresistible dance floor anthem inspired by the late, great Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody. It also samples parts of LMFAO’s song Shots. Add in Jeremih’s smooth cadence and a fiery hook and you’ve got a smash hit.

Natalie was born and raised in Amsterdam – her parents are of Surinamese descent. She was ‘discovered’ in 2011 at an ESPY Awards after party when she approached Flo Rida saying that one day she would work with him. Impressed by her confidence he invited her to the studio and over the following two years she performed with Flo around the world as his lead female vocalist. In 2013 she officially got signed to his International Music Group (I.M.G.) label and Republic Records. Look out for him in the video at 1:16.

Written by William Lobban-Bean, Alex Schwartz and Joe Khajadourian, Somebody is the first single from La Rose’s as yet untitled debut album, expected to be released later this year.

Iggy Azalea – Trouble
ft. Jennifer Hudson

By | Music, Music Videos | No Comments

Iggy Azalea has finally premiered the highly anticipated music video for ‘Trouble’, her sassy collaboration with R’n’B powerhouse Jennifer Hudson. Directed by Iggy herself, this funky visual was shot in L.A and is a whole lot of fun! In it, Iggy, although not sure why and how she got into the situation, proves her loyalty to her man by being his feisty accomplice in a major crime before being arrested by Officer Hudson.

Azalea explained the characters in the video in a recent interview with MTV news: “I will say Jennifer’s character, I think [is] kind of like the sassy, no beep-taking type of police boss lady. I am, I suppose, just a bit of an accidental Bonnie and Clyde that I’ve naively have fallen into the role that I don’t really want to be into… She keeps it under control.”

It’s been an amazing 12 months for the Australian rapper: she has been nominated for 50 awards including 4 Grammys, 6 AMAs, 7 EMAs, and 9 VMAs. She has sold 13 million singles, 1 million albums and notched up over a billion Youtube views. She holds the record for both the longest reign at Billboard Nº1 for a female rapper, and in holding the Nº1 and Nº2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 for 5 consecutive weeks, she keeps company with the likes of The Beatles.

This Motown inspired funky cut is housed on Reclassified, the re-release, or deluxe version, of Azalea’s debut album The New Classic.
