Tinashe shows off some serious high energy dance moves in the new video for her stellar track All Hands On Deck. Directed by Ben More the video was shot with a handful of backing dancers in a shipping yard. The photography is excellent, the setting very creative and the dancing sublime. It looks like Tinashe will continue her reign at the top of everyone’s R&B playlists.
The track is a Crunk&B song – a genre of hip hop music that originated in Memphis, Tennessee – with elements of West Coast hip hop, grime and late 1990s / early 2000s R&B. The thick bassline, club-friendly beat and pan-flute breakdown are complimented by Tinashe’s super-smooth vocals. She sings about a guy who broke her heart but now she’s glad to be free: “Kiss the old me goodbye, she’s dead and gone, dead and gone, dead and gone.”
In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine Tinashe talked about the filming of the video: “I feel like when you put yourself in a borderline dangerous situation, exciting things can happen. That shock value is always what you want to go for in a memorable video. We were over 100 feet in the air with no safety harnesses. Literally, we could have died. It was a thrill to make and I’m so excited for my fans to see this video. We really stepped it up, visually.”
All Hands on Deck is taken from Tinashe’s debut studio album Aquarius (2014).
