Watch Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Adrien Brody in the new Dragon Blade trailer. Written and directed by Daniel Lee, Dragon Blade is set in 206-220 A.D. and focuses on a battle between Rome and China’s Han Dynasty. Jackie Chan plays Huo An, a commander with a 1,000-soldier army who teams up with a Roman general named Lucius (John Cusack) to try and protect the borders of China from external invaders. Unfortunately, the blood-thirsty Tiberius (Adrien Brody) has a score to settle with Lucius, and heads his way with an army of 100,000.

This movie is reportedly the most expensive Chinese movie ever made, costing 65 million dollars to produce. Chan, Cusack and Brody have all experienced high levels of box office success – so what happens when all three come together to make a movie? Well, if the viral success of the trailer is anything to go by it could be huge – although it could equally be a huge, expensive flop.

The film is backed by Sparkle Roll Cultural Media, Huayi Brothers Media Corporation, Shanghai Film Group and new film investment group Beijing Cultural Assets Chinese Film & Television Fund. World sales are handled by Hong Kong-based Golden Network.

Dragon Blade is set for release in IMAX 3D on 19 February 2015, the first day of the Chinese New Year holiday period.
