Prince & 3rdEyeGirl – Another Love

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Prince and his new all-female band 3rdEyeGirl have released a groovy new video for the psychedelic new sound of their next single Another Love, which is taken from his recently-released album with 3rdEyeGirl, Plectrumelectrum. It was originally written by Alice Smith, Rebecca Jordan and Reginald “Syience” Perry for Smith’s album She. Prince recorded his version of the song during a jam session with 3rdEyeGirl – Donna Grantis (guitar), Ida Nielsen (bass) and Hannah Ford Welton (drums) – at his famous Paisley Park Studios.

The psychedelic video uses footage from Prince & 3rdEyeGirl’s recent 8-minute Saturday Night Live performance.

The album Plectrumelectrum is one of two full length albums that our favourite purple performer released on September 30 this year – it’s best described as a set of exploratory funk-rock jams written with 3rdEyeGirl. It landed on top of Billboard’s Rock albums chart and the companion release Art Official Age (more like Prince’s earlier work from the Purple Rain era) topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Prince has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career. In 2004, he was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was ranked Nº28 out of 100 in Rolling Stone Greatest artist of all times.

The Veronicas – If You Love Someone

By | Music Videos | No Comments

The Veronicas start a Love Revolution in their upbeat & inspiring If You Love Someone video. The uplifting video sees the twin sisters, Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, and a whole group of friends fight for a Love Revolution – putting flowers on police cars, sticking up inspiring messages and generally calling for real change. “Our love for music is only matched by our desire to ‘be the change’ and ‘find the voice’ to speak up, for ourselves, and the world around us,” the twins posted alongside the video premiere. “This video is merely meant to inspire a light within you, that we hope will one day spark into a fire to light the way for others. Because at the end of the day, there is no greater lesson to learn, than the grand lesson of LOVE, FREEDOM, ACCEPTANCE, COMPASSION, for ourselves, and for others.” Right on, girls! We’re with you!

(To watch this video in C5, just tap here.)

This catchy, socially conscious anthem is another world from their last chart-topping ballad You Ruin Me. It’s a great radio song and looks set to repeat the success of the last single. Both are taken from the Australian duo’s third self-titled album.

The overdue return of the Veronica’s after years of label limbo was musically, one of this year’s high points. They began recording their 3rd album in 2010 but the work was never finished due to a conflict with Warner Bros Records. They finally parted company with the label late in 2013 and announced that they would return to music after signing a new record deal with Sony Music in March this year.

“When we made the video for #IfYouLoveSomeone, it was important that we bought up issues that are worth discussing! The core thread of those msgs, revolve around integrity,” the Australian sisters wrote on their Twitter account. “To make a difference. Defend the planet. Defend human rights. Animal rights. Stand up to everyday corruption.”

“We want to inspire you guys to join us. Ask yourself what you believe in,” Lisa and Jess continued. “Ask what we can all do to make these changes in our own lives! This isn’t a backpack revolution where we slap on a few badges.. this is a call for real change. Change always starts with questions.”

Alex Adair – Make Me Feel Better

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Here is a true musical remedy – Alex Adair has premiered the music video for his debut single, Make Me Feel Better – and it undoubtedly WILL make you feel a lot better. Thank you Alex! Light & plucky synths, lively percussion and a truly inspiring visual with a great vibe. With millions of plays already on Soundcloud this is a producer to watch out for next year.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Alex Adair is a 21 year old producer from West Sussex in the UK. We don’t know an awful lot more about him except that he already has the backing of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and MistaJam on Radio 1 and 1Xtra and has over 4 million plays on Soundcloud. He has also released remixes for Ed Sheeran, Jessie Ware and Ella Eyre online.

Make You Feel Better is the kind of track that makes you dream of gorgeous majestic spring days and hot dreamy summer nights. Sampling the legendary artists Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, and their Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing single, Adair brings us a highly infectious exuberant track overflowing with energy and good vibes. The visual, directed by Dano Cern, matches the energy and vibe of the track perfectly.

The music video was produced by Artists And Derelicts – a new media collective that brings content to life for music videos, art films, commercials and advertising. The collective is helmed by executive producer Misssy Galandia who has produced award-winning videos for nearly every celebrity brand on the planet.

Make Me Feel Better is available to pre-order now.

Madonna – Living For Love

By | Music Videos | No Comments

In response to the leak of 13 unfinished demos last week Madonna has just released 6 new songs on iTunes, plus uploaded Living For Love onto Youtube, in advance of her just-announced full-length album, Rebel Heart. “I was hoping to release my new single Living For Love on Valentine’s Day with the rest of the album coming in the Spring,” the iconic singer stated on her official website early this morning (December 20). “I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift.”

(To play Living for love in creation 5, just tap here.)

iTunes was having problems this morning, probably due to the massive amount of traffic after Madonna’s surprise announcement. If you do have problems locating the tracks just go to Madonna’s ’Artist Page’ on the iTunes Store and sort her albums by release date and Rebel Heart should show up immediately. You can download the songs as part of an album pre-order or buy them individually, a la carte.

The album has 19 tracks, most of which are still untitled, save for one called Joan of Arc that is not yet available. More music will be released Feb. 9 before the full album arrives in full on March 10, 2015.

Tracks available include the following:
Living for Love (Madonna Ciccone, Thomas Wesley Pentz, Alicia Keys, MoZella, Ariel Rechtstaid, Toby Gad, Nick Rowe)
Devil Pray (Madonna Ciccone, Ryan Tedder)
Ghosttown (Madonna Ciccone)
Unapologetic Bitch (Madonna Ciccone,Thomas Wesley Pentz, Sophie)
Illuminati (Madonna Ciccone,Thomas Wesley Pentz)
Bitch I’m Madonna (feat. Nicki Minaj – Madonna Ciccone,Thomas Wesley Pentz, Sophie, Onika Minaj)

Producers on the tracks include Diplo, Kanye West, Billboard, Dahi, Blood Diamonds and Madonna, herself. Diplo — who produced a large portion of the album’s tracks — promised the songs would be “crazy-sounding.” “We really pushed the envelope with some of the stuff we were doing,” he said, adding Madonna was “up for anything.” “I love when an artist gives a producer the confidence he needs to work with them, and Madonna was very open-minded to my ideas… she was down from day one.”

Madonna has been troubled by leaks for the last few weeks. Earlier this month, she posted a photo of a smashed iPod on Instagram “This broken ipod is a symbol of my broken heart! That my music has been stolen and leaked! I have been violated as a human and an artist! #fuckedupshit.”

When she discovered unreleased photos from shoots had made their way onto the web, she posted one of the images on Instagram saying, “I am asking my true fans and supporters who respect me as an artist and a human to not get involved with the purchasing, trading or posting of unreleased images or music. I hope and pray we find the source of the leaks soon. Until then i am grateful for any leads or info and even more grateful for your support and loyalty! Please let me finish my work so i can give you my very best!”

The Pinkprint Movie

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Nicki Minaj just released an extended music video to accompany the release of her new album, The Prinkprint. The 16 minute Pinkprint Movie is comprised of 3 parts which all relate back to tracks on her album – Part 1: The Crying Game, Part 2: I lied and Part 3: Grand Piano – featuring the tracks The Crying Game, All Things Go, and Grand Piano. If there was ever any doubt that Nicki’s broken heart was at the core of the album, this video cements it. It’s an awesome visual that compliments the album perfectly and seeing as words will never do it justice you’ll have to watch it for yourself.

(To watch this mini movie in creation 5, just tap here.)

It might not be an adrenaline-fuelled action video or a sexy twerk fest, but we rather like this raw and emotional side of Minaj – it feels real, rather than commercial. It’s like we are seeing her life on screen, putting her heart on the line.

The comments on YouTube are amusing – most people seem amazed at seeing this tender side of Minaj, others, as you would expect, are disappointed that there are no wiggling butts. I guess that’s the price you pay for releasing a video like Anaconda.

The Trinidad and Tobago-born rapper has had a busy week, her third studio album was released on December 15, the news broke that she was the face of Roberto Cavalli Spring/Summer 2015 campaign – (tap here to read the story) and then yesterday (December 19) she uploaded this mini-movie to YouTube.

We like the The Pinkprint best out of all her albums, it’s raw and emotional and quite clear that she has put her blood, sweat and tears into it. There are 22 songs on the deluxe version and we didn’t skip one track. It has received generally positive reviews from music critics and is currently on track to debut inside the top 5 on Billboard 200 next week.

Backstreet Boys:
Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Backstreet’s back, all right! The Backstreet Boys documentary trailer Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of is here and it looks pretty great, certainly worth a download! “From 1999 to 2002 we were the biggest band in the world…and then it just stopped,” Backstreet Boys explain in the new trailer. The documentary explores the past 2 years in the band’s life and the recording and touring plans for their most recent album, In a World Like This. It also also looks back at their origins and how they became larger than life, plus the shadier aspects of the music industry giving their account of boy band mogul Lou Pearlman and his $300 million Ponzi scheme.

(To watch the trailer in creation 5, just tap here.)

Things get heated, emotional and dramatic. Nick, Brian, Kevin, A.J. and Howie finally spill the dirt on Lou Pearlman, the notorious con man who got the group together and ended up taking millions of their earnings.

“We’ve been filming during the making of the record, the rehearsals for the tour, while we’ve been out on the road,” Kevin Richardson told Billboard. “It’s kind of a making-of the record along with our story, how we got together and the ups and downs and the roller coaster that we’ve been on.”

“What do you when you’re a full-grown man in a boy band?”

Filmmaker Stephen Kijak lets the Boys tell their story of their heydey and fall from grace in their own words, and then follows them during their 2012 reunion as they record their big comeback album.

Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of hits cinemas and iTunes on January 30, 2015.

Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Had enough of All About that Bass? Try the insanely catchy Lips are Movin instead, Meghan Trainor’s latest single. It’s already racked up nearly 42 million views in just under a month! Meghan Trainor is back to prove that she is no one-hit-wonder. In fact, she is a new breed of pop star whose clothes stay firmly on. In All About That Bass she tackled body image, in this single she’s gunning for all those good for nothing, lying, cheating dirty dawgs! With its retro sound and handclaps Lips are Movin does sound similar to All About That Bass – she even mentions the song loads of times on the new track. The song is currently at Nº8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and rising, whilst All About That Bass has finally started its descent after 22 weeks on the chart and sits at Nº3

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Lips are Movin follows the age-old tradition of bashing bad blokes in songs and Trainor doesn’t mess about with her words: “You can buy me diamond earrings and deny-ny-ny / But I smell her on your collar so goodbye bye-bye-bye / I know you’re lying cause your lips are movin’ / Tell me do you think I’m dumb?”

The video is actually quite unique, it’s the first-ever socially sourced video. “HP is bending the rules because they are tapping content creators to produce and style the content in their own way,” Vine star Robby Ayala told MTV News recently. “It’s been successful with their fans and they are amplifying that onto the music video scene and that’s a really cool thing to see.”

Meghan invited Vine, Instagram and YouTube stars like Kristin Ess, Lizzza, Olivia “Chachi” Gonzales to be the set designers, producers, choreographers and make-up artists. “When you use social influencers and match them with a mainstream artist like Meghan Trainor, you’re taking two worlds and colliding them into one,” Vine star Cody Johns said. “And creating something really awesome.”

Lips Are Movin is the 2nd single from the 20-year-old’s upcoming debut album Title and will be officially released on January 19. The album will be out January 26.

Taken 3 – 12 Skills of Christmas

By | Music Videos | No Comments

A brilliant new trailer for Taken 3 gives us the 12 Skills of Christmas Liam Neeson style – it’s the best piece of marketing for this film so far, poking fun at Neeson’s penchant for killing people in his movies. There’s nothing like taking a classic Christmas carol and making it as violent as possible – makes a change though from the overly cute, cheesy Christmas promos. “Nothing brings people together during the holidays like good cheer, family traditions, and breaking necks. Countdown to the holidays with Bryan Mills and his 12 Skills of Christmas.” Maybe it’s too much to hope that the film also has this great sense of humour running through it?

(To watch this trailer in Creation 5, just tap here.)

Of course the skills don’t make complete sense – like ’11 throats a chopping’ – because the throats aren’t the ones doing the chopping, but hey, artistic license and all that. 20th Century Fox must have been unable to resist once the idea took hold – don’t you just love marketing?

The official synopsis: Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is cut short when she is brutally murdered. Framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For the last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.

New additions to the franchise are Forest Whitaker, Dougray Scott and Sam Spruell with Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen both returning to the supporting cast. Taken 3 will hit cinemas on January 8, 2015 in the UK and January 9 in the US.

Ariana Grande – Santa Tell Me

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Feeling festive yet? Ariana Grande’s overly cute music video for Santa Tell Me should help. She’s even traded in her signature cat ears for a set of reindeer antlers! The visual is full of adorable onesies, festive jumpers, furry animal hats and stuffed full of sleepover vibes. The wistful but upbeat song was co-written by Ariana, Savan Kotecha and Ilya Salmanzade and the video was co-directed by Alfredo Flores and Jones Crow.

(To watch this video in Creation 5, just tap here.)

In Santa Tell Me, Grande is basically asking Santa Claus to let her know if the boy she likes will stick around so she doesn’t get her heart broken. “Santa tell me if you’re really there, don’t make me fall in love again, if he won’t be here next year…” Anyone who’s single can relate to this message!

The song sounds quite similar to Mariah Carey’s famous Christmas song with the same upbeat festive feel as the 1994 classic track All I Want For Christmas Is You. It was actually released for download last November and has stayed in the Top 100 on the US iTunes ever since!

The other people in the video are Ariana’s dance crew that have been working with her for years – they clearly know how to have fun together, as you can see in the seriously silly outtakes that appear at the end of the video.

Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life

By | Music Videos | No Comments

Multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning rock band Imagine Dragons have released a fantastic, cinematic music video for their new single I Bet My Life. Directed by Canadian filmmaker Jodeb, the video features American actor Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and was filmed at Arizona’s Roosevelt Dam in October. The awesome and intense visuals mirror the emotional scope of the song.

(To watch this video in creation 5, just tap here.)

“As the first video on our new album, it was especially important that we capture the emotion of the song,” frontman Dan Reynolds said of the video. “Although it was written about my sometimes strained relationship with my parents, our director Jodeb had a powerful vision for how the feeling of the story could be portrayed. We were also lucky to have such amazing talent to work with in our lead actorDane DeHaan.”

In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine Reynolds expands on the meaning and inspiration for the song.

This song is about your relationship with your parents?
Like many teenagers, I really hit heads with my parents at times growing up. My mom and dad are from a really conservative background, so when I told them I wanted to be a musician, that obviously wasn’t a thing that they particularly wanted to hear. But my entire life I’ve been the black sheep in my family and been in and out of trouble. So the song’s about my relationship with my parents, but still celebrating through it all everything that we’ve been through. We try to see past our differences and celebrate the relationship that we have and that we still share today.

Have they heard the song? Have you guys talked about it?
Right before we were gonna release the single, I sat down with my mom and my dad and I played it for them. It’s kind of why I started music as a teenager, to say things that I couldn’t necessarily say. I played [“I Bet My Life”] for my parents and I think they kind of knew, and when I hinted at it, it was a little bit of emotional moment.

Read the full interview here.

I Bet My Life was written and produced by Imagine Dragons and is the first single to be released from their upcoming second album, expected to be released in early 2015 via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records.
