Inside Abbey Road

By | Featured, Music

Thanks to Google you can now glimpse the magic that goes on inside the world’s most famous recording studio. In this virtual tour you get to ‘walk’ anywhere you like inside the studios, tinker with the mastering equipment and you even get the chance to learn how to cut vinyl. Video and audio files are available that tell the studio’s fascinating history – from the footage of the world’s first live global broadcast to Jay Z discussing his Magna Carta album with Zane Lowe.

The iconic zebra crossing is the closet most people get the studios. More than half a million people visit the crossing every year – but the studio is closed to the general public since it opened for business in 1931. Now, with Google’s interactive project the hallowed halls of Abbey Road are private no more! You can explore every inch of the iconic recording studio and learn about its history.

Giles Martin, a producer based at Abbey Road for artists like Paul McCartney, and whose father Sir George Martin produced The Beatles, said: “Abbey Road Studios has been a hive of creativity and source of world-class recordings for more than 80 years. This collaboration with Google gives the outside world a great insight into the everyday workings of the studio and allows anyone to glimpse the magic that goes on inside the world’s most famous recording studio.”

Inside Abbey Road includes more than 150 different 360-degree panoramic images captured inside the building’s three main studios and mastering suite, as well as interactive exhibits and a media archive.

By | Featured, Films

The Nokia theatre in Los Angeles, California was abuzz with the hottest stars in Hollywood last night at the 24th instalment of the MTV Movie Awards. The Fault in Our Stars was the big winner of the evening pulling in Movie of the Year, Best Female Performance (Shailene Woodley) and Best Kiss.

shaine-MTVAwards-Creation5Robert Downey Jr was also presented with a Recognition Award by his Avengers co-stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson. Other highlights of the evening were the performances by Charli XCX who was joined by Ty Dollar Sign and Tinashe, and Fall Out Boy – and the new previews of Avengers: Age of Ultron and Pitch Perfect 2.

charlixcx-MTVAwards-Creation5

The show was hosted by 33-year-old comedienne Amy Shumer who certainly lived up to her promise of “dirty, hard and crazy” jokes. Her opening monologue included some quips at MTV, Kevin Hart, One Direction and even herself! On One Direction: “Hillary Clinton finally announced she’s taking Zayn’s spot in One Direction. The first woman in One Direction. I never thought I’d live to see the day!”

Schumer didn’t hold back, which is why everyone loves her so much, and you could see how much she enjoyed the show ““This is going to be the party of the year. I just hope that Harrison Ford doesn’t crash it.”

Best Moments: The Avengers kneeling before Robert Downey Jr – Downey’s inspirational acceptance speech “dream big, work hard, keep your nose clean, be of service, and yes because you can…Define your generation” and Vin Diesel singing a tribute to Paul Walker. Oh, and let’s not forget Channing Tatum getting his twerk on – when JLO gave her acceptance speech for the Best Scared-As-Shit Performance she asked Tatum for some dance moves…

Sunday Sessions with Frankie

By | Featured, Music

Having just made an impressive debut performance at SXSW and with a debut EP Dreamstate set to drop in 2 days (on April 14), Frankie might me a relative newcomer to the indie pop scene but she is sizzling hot! With each new song she releases the buzz surrounding her gets bigger. With 800,000 listens on Soundcloud and Spotify, plus a great remix of her track Problems Problems by producer duo BLU J – put her on your list of artists to watch out for this year.

Her latest single New Obession is quite an apt title. Prepare to be intoxicated by her sound and smitten by her charm. Think sweet-girl-next-door crossed with tomboyish girl power – a beautiful mix of retro and contemporary.

This 23-year old singer-songwriter with dreamy synth-pop melodies is 100% in control of her artistic vision. “I want to bridge together the sound of women from the ’70s, like Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell, with women from the ’90s, like Alanis Morissette and The Spice Girls,” Frankie explains. “They were completely unique, sang exactly what was on their minds and represented a real time of girl power, which is something I try to channel into my music.
“Like so many great female singers who came before me, I want fans to listen to my songs and connect with every emotion I’m expressing,” Frankie adds. “Basically, I want you to feel like I’m right there with you, whether you’re in the mood to dance or just need a good cry, I want my music to heal and lift your spirits..”

frankie-Creation5-web2

Frankie is certainly poised to become our new obsession – take a listen to her latest single and the opening track on her debut EP Dreamstate –

Frankie simply oozes California cool – as do the six songs on her debut EP Dreamstate.
01 – New Obsession
02 – Where We Left It
03 – Problems Problems
04 – Blackout
05 – Gold
06 – Chaos

Frankie chose our Sunday Sessions this week (Creation 5 users you will find this playlist under ‘Playlists >> Sunday Sessions’)

1-BORNS- Electric Love
“This song…so vibey and brings me back to The Beach Boys days. I love him and I got a chance to hear this song at SXSW and it was everything. I’m all about harmonies and the chorus makes me dance every single time. This song gets my band and I pumped so no brainer”

2-Labrinth- Jealous
“This was one of my favorite songs of last year… so beautifully written and his vocal performance gives me chills every single time. Such a strong powerful ballad which I’m all about. One of my favorite artists to watch right now, undoubtedly.”

3 -Bebe Rexha- I’m Gonna Show You Crazy
“If this one doesn’t get you ready for Mondays then I don’t know what will…Love her voice and this song is seriously filled with girl power and gets me dancing like crazy. Pun intended. What a cool track and shows such a real side of humanity…love love love!”

Lip Sync Battle, the TV hit of the season

By | Featured, Music

Lip Sync Battle is the TV hit of the season! It’s become a huge viral sensation. Why? Basically, because it’s so silly and so much fun, and as it’s co-host JJ Cool says “I love the idea because it’s a new way to celebrate music on TV.”

The celebrity fake-singing sensation is a spin off of the hugely popular Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Fallon first pitched the show to NBC for network broadcast, but they turned it down! They must be cursing that decision right now! An NBC insider told the Hollywood Reporter that the feeling at NBC was like “We’re not just going to buy everything Jimmy brings us.”

Fallon took on The Rock in the shows debut with Dwayne performing Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off and Fallon starting a conga line to Harry Belfonte’s Jump in the Line. The end-of-show audience applause test saw The Rock beating Fallon. That first premiere was watched by more than 2.2 million people making it the most watched debut for a non-scripted series in the nework’s history.

Another of our favourite battles – Anne Hathaway vs Emily Blunt – airs tonight and the YouTube teaser has already racked up more than 9 million views. Hathaway’s performance has had everyone talking because it was so good! She literally channels Miley Cyrus, the moves, the looks everything! Apparently when the cameras shut off, everyone backstage was going nuts because she really went for it! Emily Blunt prepares to take on the challenge with her epic version of Janis Joplin. Tune in tonight for the full show! (We’ve added the pre-show clip to our video list.)

Lip Sync Battle airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on Spike TV.

Let Spring Roll On!

By | Featured, Music

Be uplifted this Easter weekend with our specially selected Spring Playlist. This season is all about fresh life, renewed love and happy days! Our playlist has been carefully selected to help you feel relaxed and rejuvenated!

For those of us in the Northern hemisphere, spring is here and we’re dusting off our sandals, putting away our vests and dreaming of the long summer days ahead. Yet spring is not just about the change in the weather it has more significance than that. Rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth – are all themes that belong to spring.

Our favourite spring quotes:

“If people did not love one another, I really don’t see what use there would be in having any spring.”  (Victor Hugo, Les Misérables)

“I suppose the best kind of spring morning is the best weather God has to offer.”  (Dodie Smith, I Capture the Castle)

“Despite the forecast, live like it’s spring.” (Lilly Pulitzer)

“That is one good thing about this world…there are always sure to be more springs.”  (L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Avonlea)

appletree-spring

“April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.” (William Shakespeare)

“The alchemist was dazed and dumbfounded, as the true meaning of the magic was revealed: *The dead will rise from glade to glen and ancient will be young again*. The dead had, after all, risen. From dead and dry things there was growth, and new life everywhere. And the endlessly long winter had at last turned to spring. From life to death and back again to life. It was indeed the greatest magic in the world.” (Lauren Oliver)

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. (Ferris Bueller)

Spring is a time for new starts, fresh beginnings and a time to enjoy nature, let spring roll on! (Tap here to open this playlist in Creation 5)

Rihanna Pranks Jimmy Kimmel

By | Featured, Music | No Comments

Rihanna played a hilarious prank on Jimmy Kimmel last week. The night before her appearance on his late night talk show, she snuck into his house at 1am and blasted her new single Bitch Better Have My Money, whilst jumping all over his bed! It was all organised with the help of his wife Molly McNearney.

Rihanna was dressed all in black, along with her backing dancers and crew and you see them arriving at Kimmel’s house at 1:05 am. “OK, I’m gonna go wake up Jimmy now. Wish me luck,” she said before heading straight into his bedroom and belting out Bitch Better Have My Money, whilst throwing what looked like 100 dollar bills at him and jumping all over his nice white bed!

It was ostensibly an April Fool’s joke – Rihanna’s is a big fan of Jimmy’s April Fools Pranks and she said that if she was going on the couch, then she wanted to get him back. Well, she certainly managed that! Even though you feel sorry for Jimmy – being woken up in bed like that – you can’t stop laughing!

By | Featured, Music

The 2nd iHeartRadio Music Awards were held yesterday (March 29) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and were hosted by Jamie Foxx, who not only brought plenty of laughs but also gave a great performance of You Changed Me with Chris Brown. (Scroll to the end of the post to watch the performances). Taylor Swift was the big winner of the night, taking home 3 awards and Justin Timberlake received the Innovator Award.

Rather than boring you with a huge story about the event, we present the ‘Unforgettable Moments’:

Rihanna’s first performance ever of her brand new single Bitch Better Have My Money and she steps out of a helicopter! And she was dressed head to toe in green Versace – stunning!iHeartAwards-Creation5-rihanna-H1

Taylor Swift and the legendary Madonna join each other on stage for an acoustic rendition of the Queen of Pop’s new single Ghosttown.

Nick Jonas is brought out in massive chains by two intimidating female officer body-builders… to perform his song Chains.

Oh! And the whole stage is basically on fire while Jason Aldean slays his country song Burnin’ It Down.

Last but not least, the Left Shark from Katy Perry’s Superbowl performance makes an appearance and has a dance challenge. It doesn’t get better than that…

Now for the awards:

The soon-to-be Dad Justin Timberlake, breaks down in tears during his acceptance of his Innovator Award. Aww!

He then emotionally pretends to accept Taylor Swift’s award for Best Lyrics, and nobody can stop laughing!

Jessie J Playlist

By | Featured, Music

London’s sweetheart and international mega pop star Jessie J turns 27 today (March 27)! Her impressive talent, boldness and English accent has taken her places most people only dream about going. For this special occasion we’ve compiled an exclusive Jessie playlist with all of her smash hits and more!

Her solo songs, albums and collabs have racked up millions of views, downloads and sales. She’s been radio queen with each and every single release and it seems wherever you go, you’ll hear her track come on at some point.

Last year was an incredible year for Jessie, especially in the US where she spent a significant amount of time on the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. Her third studio album, Sweet Talker, debuted at Nº10 on the Billboard Album charts selling more than 25,000 copies in it’s first week! We’re looking forward to her remake of Monica & Brandy’s hit The Boy is Mine – another collab with Ariana Grande – promised for later this year.

jessie-j-creation5web2

Entertainment Weekly’s music critic Adam Markovitz said of Jessie as she was starting out: “The 23-year-old Brit has all the tools, from a monster voice to an ear for hooks — and a manic persona that’s equal parts Katy Perry, Kristin Chenoweth, and Alice Cooper.”

Jessie J calls her fans “heartbeats”, after her Heartbeat Tour. “They’re amazing … They support me and buy my albums and singles, and they stand outside hotels, and they come to shows, and they get tattoos of my lyrics and they cut their hair like me. You have to love your fans. That’s why I call them my Heartbeats, because without them I wouldn’t be here.”

Jessica Ellen Cornish is a great example of how passion, talent and drive can get you everywhere in life. Happy Birthday Jessie J!
