The 2014 Billboard Music Awards

By May 19, 2014Music

The 2014 Billboard Music Awards were held last night (May 18) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The 3-hour show kicked off in grand style with Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez performing their official World Cup song “We Are One (Ole-Ola)”.

The host for the evening, Ludacris, then took over telling the audience that they were “about to watch the Billboard charts come to life.” He wasn’t far wrong either – the evening was filled with a host of live performances, including the one everyone was dying to see, the world premiere of a Michael Jackson hologram. It was a wonderful ‘performance’ from Michael – spookily real – take a look in the video below:

Justin Timberlake won an incredible 7 awards, including Top Male Artist and Top Album for The 20/20 Experience – The Complete Experience. Unfortunately he couldn’t attend the awards in person, so instead sung ‘Thank you’ in a cute video message.

Imagine Dragons weren’t far behind JT receiving an impressive 5 awards including Top Hot 100 Artist and Top Duo/Group.

Katy Perry received the Top Female Artist and even managed to be there to perform her new single ‘Birthday’ – virtually anyway.
