Veteran music star Lionel Richie has soared to the top of the UK charts to score his first Nº1 album in 23 years after his triumphant performance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage last weekend. Lionel Richie & The Commodores: The Definitive Collection made it to Nº 10 when it was first released in 2003. The album jumped an incredible 103 places beating stiff competition from Florence + The Machine's How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which is at Nº 2.
Richie said he was "overwhelmed performing at Glastonbury in front of all those people", adding "for the fans to make the album number one is unbelievable. The UK has always been a special place for me, thank you, I love you all!”
Elsewhere in the UK charts James Bay's Chaos and the Calm is up to Nº3, Taylor Swift is at Nº4 with 1989 and Ed Sheeran is holding fast at Nº5 with x.
